OpenBIM Poland 2026 is done, and it was a good one again. We went as a team this year: Katarzyna Lipka-Sidor, Aneta Chudobinska-Rosa, Szymon Zbrojewski, Szymon Gałecki and Justyna Tomiakowska. Going together always works out well, honestly. Half the value is in the chats between sessions, not just the sessions themselves. And a special mention this year - congratulations to Katarzyna Lipka-Sidor on her openBIM stage debut!   A few things really stuck with us. The room was packed, which tells you something about where BIM is in Poland at the moment, maybe not quite "we've cracked it", but clearly better every year. The thing that struck us most was how many clients and contracting authorities turned up. When the people actually paying for BIM start showing up to get their heads round the standards, things move on quickly.   But the bit we'd really point you towards is the training. The talks set the direction, fair enough, but the workshops are where you actually walk away with something you can use back at your desk on Monday. If you've only ever gone for the talks, do yourself a favour and make time for the hands-on side too.   We came away feeling the way we usually do after this one, that the future of construction is going to be built on working together, on things talking to each other, and on being open about it. And it's a good place to be.   This year we didn't manage to grab Anna Rydzy for a photo - next time! A big hello to her and the whole team, and huge congratulations on putting together such a brilliant event.   Thanks to everyone we got chatting to. In a world that is becoming increasingly digital, meetings like this are genuinely valuable. The idea for “Coffee & Construction” started with a simple coffee and a conversation with Paweł Dopierała. It was meant to be a small local gathering… yet people travelled from both the north and south of Poland to join us. And that says a lot about how much we still need real conversations, knowledge sharing, and face-to-face connections within the industry. We also know that many of you couldn’t make it. We received messages asking whether the talks would be available online - so keep an eye on our social media, as we’ll soon be sharing highlights and recorded presentations. And they’re definitely worth watching. Aleksandra Zielazna-Pawlukiewicz, Marcin Barwinski, KATARZYNA BARCZ and Szymon Bloch shared practical examples of working with BIM, AI and emerging technologies, along with genuinely useful insights on how these processes can be done better and more efficiently. Thank you to everyone who joined us, and especially to the Frescon team for helping organise the event. What we’ll come up with next, we still don’t know. Ah, the "minor tweak". Pretty sure everyone in this industry flinches at those two words. ☕   There’s a specific internal screaming only a BIM Coordinator knows. It’s that moment when you’ve finally cleared the carnage of a clash log, only for someone to "pop in" with some "small changes."   But realistically, this is the job. Every one of those 14,360 new clashes is a problem solved digitally rather than a disaster on-site. We’d much rather deal with that blank, shell-shocked stare in front of a monitor than a frantic site manager standing next to a misplaced column.   It's about staying adaptable. In the digital world, we have the luxury of fixing these "minor" landslides before they hit the real world. It’s messy, it’s frustrating, but it’s exactly why the process exists. Proud to be part of something bigger. Congratulations to OHLA Ireland and Townlink Construction on their nomination for Digital / BIM Initiative of the Year at the Irish Building and Design Awards 2026 - a well-deserved recognition for the work done at the TU Dublin Academic Hub & Library in Grangegorman. As a BIM subcontractor on this project, Team Frescon was proud to play our part behind the scenes, twice over.   🪨 Stone façade - for Stone Systems We were responsible for the stone façade BIM model across two buildings with complex, irregular layouts, AHLN and AHLS. Our scope included: 🔹 Nearly 19,700 parametric elements - stone panels and secondary steel  🔹 Full NBS Uniclass / COBie classification  🔹 Zero clashes at model delivery  🔹 Delivered ahead of schedule It wasn't a simple project. We inherited a partially built model, identified an unplanned structural clash mid-project, and worked through one of the most element-heavy façade scopes we've encountered, all while maintaining weekly coordination uploads.   🪵 Timber joinery & interiors - for GEM JOINERY (Specialist Architectural Joinery Services) On a separate scope, we delivered the full BIM model for all timber carpentry work: wooden partitions, slatted ceilings, doors and furniture and for the first time, we implemented COBie and NBS data for this type of scope. The challenge here was different in nature. We had to develop parametric families - including door and ceiling panel families - flexible enough to adapt to a wide range of shapes and sizes, yet lightweight enough not to overload the model, while carrying sufficient data to meet the required LODi. A strict naming convention had to be applied consistently across all elements - one that fed directly into COBie parameters for family, type and description. The result: a high-quality model delivered on time, meeting the specified Level of Detail and Level of Information, fully clash-resolved and COBie-compliant.   What made both scopes work? 👉 Great clients, a sharp team, and the discipline to never cut corners on model quality, whether you're counting stone panels or ceiling slats. Jeśli ktoś miał okazję poznać naszą CEO Monika Filusch, albo kogokolwiek z naszego zespołu, to pewnie już wie, że lubimy spotkania na żywo. Rozmowy, wymianę doświadczeń, energię, której nie da się przenieść na Teamsa. Dlatego kiedy poznaliśmy Paweł Dopierała, założyciela grupy „Przy kawie o budownictwie”, nasze myśli od razu poszły w jednym kierunku: mamy tyle do przegadania, zróbmy spotkanie, zaprośmy ciekawych ludzi! I chyba coś w tym jest, że podobni ludzie się przyciągają. Z jednej rozmowy przy kawie w McDonald’s powstało nasze małe, lokalne wydarzenie. Dla kogo? Dla wszystkich: - fanów BIM - sceptyków - tych, którzy „coś słyszeli, ale nie do końca wiedzą o co chodzi” Chcemy pogadać o tym, jak BIM i nowe technologie naprawdę działają (albo nie działają) w polskim budownictwie. Zaprosiliśmy też prelegentów, którzy pokażą konkretne przykłady z projektów - żeby było o czym dyskutować. O nich napiszemy wkrótce.
