Empowering the women of Pakistan is not just a goal; it is the foundation of our digital future. As March comes to a close and the world bids adieu to International Women’s Month, the Pakistan Software Export Board is proud to highlight the programs that are actively bridging the gender gap in Pakistan's tech ecosystem. From skill development and entrepreneurship to mentorship and global market access, PSEB is building a digital landscape where every woman has a place at the table. At the heart of these efforts is the visionary leadership of Federal Minister for IT and Telecom Shaza Khawaja. As the only female cabinet member in Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's government, Minister Shaza Khawaja brings a perspective to national policy that is as rare as it is essential. Her dedicated commitment to these programs ensures that Pakistan's digital revolution is driven by talent, ambition, and opportunity, without exception. Under her leadership, PSEB is not just training professionals. We are nurturing the next generation of female leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs who will define Pakistan's standing in the global digital economy. From Dishwasher in Dubai → Millionaire at 25 (Built from Lahore) Wasif Akhtar didn’t come from privilege. His family scraped together enough to send him to Dubai — where he started as a dishwasher. Most people would’ve accepted that path. Work hard → become supervisor → maybe manager. Safe. Predictable. Limited. But he saw something most don’t: The internet doesn’t care where you start. In his spare time, he began learning online — diving into Google Ads, trying to understand how money actually moves in the digital world. Then he made a decision most people were afraid of: 👉 He left Dubai. 👉 Came back to Pakistan. 👉 Took a call center job in Lahore selling limousine services. That’s where the shift happened. Instead of just selling… he started thinking: “Why not build this?” Fast forward a few years: Millionaire by 25 (now 26) Built a premium car service business Created 100+ jobs in Lahore Opened an office in Manhattan employing 10 Americans Yes — bought the Lamborghini too parked in his home in Lahore. But that’s not the real story. The real story is this: Pakistan has talent. Pakistan has hunger. Pakistan just doesn’t celebrate its builders enough. Look at the US: They turned founders like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Elon Musk into cultural icons. That’s not accidental. That’s strategy. Because when you celebrate builders — you create more of them. We need to do the same. Not just for Wasif. But for thousands of others quietly building from Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad and beyond. If you’re reading this: You don’t need to move to Silicon Valley. You don’t need perfect conditions. You need skills, belief, and execution. The internet has leveled the playing field. Now it’s on you. — Amir Anzur CMO, Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) / Tech Destination Pakistan #MakePakistanCoolAgain #ThinkTechThinkPakistan #BuildFromPakistan #DigitalWealth #Entrepreneurship

This initiative aligns with the vision of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, to strengthen Pakistan’s digital economy by enabling IT firms to access the world’s largest decentralized public procurement ecosystem. It focuses on building capacity in compliance, pre-sales, and bid readiness, positioning Pakistani companies to compete effectively in the U.S. State, Local, and Education (SLED) market and drive export-led growth. The program is designed to equip Pakistani IT firms with the skills and capabilities required to access and compete in the U.S. SLED procurement market—an estimated 𝐔𝐒𝐃 𝟏.𝟓–𝟐 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝟗𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐠𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬. Pakistan's C-Suite Has a New Face - and It's Remarkable Seven thousand employees. Thirteen companies. Revenue that grew sixfold in eight years. Behind every one of those numbers is a decision, and four of the most consequential decision-makers at Systems Limited are women. At PSEB, we believe that's exactly how it should be. Ammara Masood, GM of Global Industries (Banking & Financial Services), spent 28 years across three continents before landing at one of Pakistan's most consequential technology firms. As former CEO of NdcTech and a sitting member of the SECP Policy Board, she doesn't just lead digital transformation - she helps shape the rules of the game. Roohi K., Group CFO, has been the financial mind behind one of Pakistan's most dramatic corporate growth stories. In eight years under her stewardship, Systems Limited grew from 2 to 13 companies, its workforce expanded to nearly 7,000 people, and revenue climbed from $18.7M to over $240M by 2024. The numbers speak, but the strategy behind them is hers. Javeria Fahad, VP and Head of Global Marketing, is the person ensuring that Pakistan's technology story is heard - across MEA, KSA, APAC, and beyond. She's built the partnerships with Microsoft, IBM, and Google. She's the reason the brand lands with credibility in boardrooms far from Lahore. Toima Asghar, Group CHRO, has spent nearly two decades thinking about one question: how do you build a culture where thousands of people can do their best work? For nine years at Systems Limited, she's been answering it - building the talent infrastructure that makes everything else possible. Together, these four leaders don't just represent a milestone. They represent a model - for Pakistani companies, for the region, and for a global tech industry still working out what inclusive leadership actually looks like in practice. Pakistan is building something. Join us in recognizing the people doing the building. If your organization has similar stories of inclusive leadership that deserve to be highlighted, we'd love to hear from you — reach out to us at PSEB.
