It took Karachi's streets, a local coach, and a decade of relentless self-belief. Yesterday, this police constable from Karachi crossed the finish line of the 130th Boston Marathon — 2 hrs 42 mins and 45 secs — the fastest Pakistani among 14 representing the nation in a field of 30,000+ runners from 137 countries. This very day — Monday, April 20th — he is running The Boston Marathon, the world's oldest and most prestigious long-distance race. He qualified not once, but twice, by completing both the Karachi and Istanbul marathons in under 2 hours 47 minutes. That's under 4 minutes per kilometre, for 42.2 kilometres. Pure grit. Pure Pakistan. Adnan Gandhi — a man who runs for more than finish lines. With 18 full marathons, 3 half-ironman races, and the coveted World Marathon Majors 6-Star under his belt, Adnan has devoted his life to building a healthier Pakistan. As co-founder of Karachi's Seaview Runners Club — grown from 3 members to 65+ marathon finishers — he champions the belief that fitness and sport can transform communities.
