At the Digital Security Helpline, we’ve been receiving reports of fraudsters sending SMS messages impersonating PSCA and traffic police, directing recipients to replicas of government payment portals. Once on the site, victims are prompted to enter their CNIC, vehicle details, and banking information, or complete an OTP "verification" that hands scammers direct access to their accounts. NEW REPORT: Between May 2024 and December 2025, DRF's Digital Security Helpline handled 5,041 cases. Complainants overwhelmingly reported cases of hacking, image-based abuse, blackmail, sextortion, and online threats. This is the reality of being a woman, a journalist, a minority, or an activist online in Pakistan. 92% of the people who reached out to us reported reduced risk after support.
