Wanted to share a truly cross-platform and cross-team piece of work that I had the pleasure of being a part of, and that was to create explanation storytelling for Nasa's Artemis II Rocket for BBC News As part of the project alongside colleagues I produced real-time studio graphics in #viz5, 3D renders in #blender and #embergen and a #WebGL version for the website and news app. In close collaboration with the web team, I also created bespoke tooling and a WebGL library (based on three.js) to seamlessly export the blender models, get most of the optimisations done automatically and preview the models in a web browser for final adjustments before handing it over to the website developers. Two days in an Empire State of mind, focused on graphics in action 🗽 In NYC, we worked alongside long-term partners Key Code Media, FORTÉ, CHESA, 12-10 Production Company, McCann Systems and Broadfield Distributing Inc to explore how graphics fit into real workflows. The sessions were hands-on, with time in Viz Flowics, Viz Trio and Viz Multiplay testing ideas and applying them directly to day-to-day production scenarios.
