🙌Last week, we wrapped up the month with a Women Connect event designed to empower and unite women in tech. Our goal was to create an environment where we could share experiences and learn from each other. Here are some key takeaways from the event: ➡️ We should use our power to unite—supporting each other rather than working against one another. ➡️ Connecting in small groups created a safe space where we could inspire one another. ➡️ Many expressed a wish to maintain our new network of women in tech, so stay tuned for a follow-up! Thank you all for joining! A special thanks to our keynote speaker, Lisa Viktorsson; our panelists, Catie Crossman and Cheryl Zandvliet; and Floor Laban for organizing and hosting the panel discussion.

🔌 Facing increasing demands from solar panels, heat pumps, and EV charging stations, Alliander needed to optimize network performance. To address this, we transformed a 20,000-line codebase—migrating away from pandas and R—to Polars, significantly enhancing data processing. By leveraging lazy execution and strategic benchmarking, we achieved efficient data handling. 🎯Impact Reduced costs by 98% Cut processing time by 20% Doubled data sample capacity Slashed RAM usage by 92% Read more! https://lnkd.in/eReHS_Un ➡️Interested in similar transformations for your organization? Proud of Luis Lucchini for his inspiring talk on data storytelling at ING Nederland. He shared how to turn data into real insights—focusing on understanding the core problem, designing for clarity, and embracing iterative feedback. What’s the worst dashboard you’ve seen? Let’s swap stories! 🙌
Storytelling with Data: Making Numbers Make Sense (Without Causing a Headache) Last week, I had the chance to talk about data storytelling at ING in Amsterdam. The goal? Helping people turn data into decisions without overwhelming their audience or creating dashboards no one actually uses. Here’s what we covered: 🔍 Understanding the Real Problem – Because “Make me a dashboard” is not a useful request. 🎨 Designing for Insights – If the key takeaway isn’t obvious, it’s just decoration. 📊 Prioritizing What Matters – More charts ≠ more insights (less is often more). 🕵️ Allowing Exploration – Give users the tools to dig deeper, but don’t make them work for basic answers. 🔄 Iterating with Feedback – If no one’s using it, it’s time to rethink and ask why. Big thanks to ING Nederland for the great discussions and to Xomnia for supporting me in my quest to make data storytelling actually useful. What’s the worst dashboard or report you’ve ever seen? Let’s share some data horror stories. #DataStorytelling #Analytics #Xomnia #ING #BetterThanPieCharts
