Keeping a safe distance for drones with the SymAware solution. As drone usage increases, our airspace is becoming increasingly busier. While drone pilots currently may use detect-and-avoid systems to prevent collisions, these systems don’t always facilitate the most efficient passing of other aircraft. NLR and the other projectpartners have developed a more effective solution as part of the Horizon Europe project SymAware. This innovative system provides drone pilots with a recommended route to maintain sufficient separation from other aircraft, enhancing safer skies for all. Recently, we had the privilege of hosting the NATO Counter-UAS Technical Interoperability Exercise (TIE26) at our Marknesse site on behalf of the Dutch Ministry of Defence. Current conflicts require an integrated defence approach, where a standalone hardware response isn’t enough. Success depends on how seamlessly systems work together. It was fantastic to see around 300 innovators from 24 countries working side-by-side, proving that bridging the gap between complex tech and operational reality is a true team effort based on trust and cross-border cooperation. It fills me with pride to see our Marknesse site serve as a practical, hands-on ecosystem for this innovation. This is exactly why we invest so deeply in our infrastructure and our people: to make sure advanced research is quickly translated into reliable, ready-to-use capabilities for the men and women serving in uniform. A heartfelt thank you to our partners and the entire team for making this exercise possible. True innovation doesn't happen in isolation. Together, we are constantly preparing for tomorrow's challenges. Ministerie van Defensie, NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA), Provincie Flevoland, Gemeente Noordoostpolder

𝐍𝐋𝐑 𝐮𝐧𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐬 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥‑𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐯𝐢𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 With our new high‑capacity vibration testing system, NLR can now test complete, full‑scale satellites for shock and vibration. The vibration test system, a TIRA 59412 model, is one of the most powerful of its kind. It allows us to replicate the tough conditions satellites face in operation and the intense shocks and vibrations experienced during launch. Its large test platform can accommodate satellites of up to one tonne, allowing entire systems to be qualified in a single campaign rather than testing components separately. Want to know more about NLR’s newest addition to the Vibration and Shock Test Facility? Read more about it on our website: https://lnkd.in/eCxjhk3U

When a drone threat emerges, #NATO's counter-drone systems need to respond as one, connecting and operating together instantly. In its fifth edition, TIE 26 put that interoperability to the test 📋 As the organizer of the exercise, NCIA brought together military, industry and scientific specialists from across the Alliance to the Netherlands 🇳🇱 to assess the latest counter-drone solutions in a live, controlled environment. Because in modern warfare, the ability to connect is the ability to defend. Read the full story here 👉 bit.ly/TIE26 NLR - Netherlands Aerospace Centre #WeAreNATO #StrongerTogether
