‘Het is van de zotte dat dit probleem in Nederland bestaat.’ Ik kom zelf uit een gezin waar we het niet breed hadden, maar ik heb wel altijd alle kansen gehad om me maximaal te ontwikkelen. Ik ben dankbaar dat het me in staat heeft gesteld te kunnen studeren en het maximale uit mezelf te halen. Je hoort steeds meer verhalen over armoede in Nederland maar toen ik hoorde dat er ook steeds meer kinderen leerproblemen hebben omdat ze opgroeien in gezinnen waar niet genoeg geld is voor een simpele bril- toen werd ik woedend. Want arme kinderen verdienen dezelfde kansen als rijke kinderen! En goed zicht is cruciaal voor ontwikkeling en leerkansen. Met easee werken we al jaren aan digitale technologie om oogmetingen makkelijker en toegankelijker te maken. We besloten om niet af te wachten tot de politiek reageert en samen met Jeugdeducatiefonds tot actie over te gaan. DSW Zorgverzekeraar hielp met sponsoring. Gisteren hebben we op de eerste school, Nutsschool Woonstede, 96 kinderen vanaf 8 jaar getest. En wat blijkt: 25% had een nieuwe of zelfs eerste bril nodig 🤯. Die leveren we ook. Gratis. Zodat ieder kind gelijke kansen krijgt. #KijkGelijk. Landelijk gaat het waarschijnlijk over honderduizenden kinderen. We hebben het hier over een grote impact op de toekomstige kansen van de volgende generatie. Onacceptabel. Wij ondersteunen het Jeugdeducatiefonds en Nationaal Fonds Kinderhulp om zoveel mogelijk kinderen te helpen. Just take a moment to let this sink in: It is 2024 in one of the richest countries in the world. A health problem that is growing rapidly and has profound effect on people’s quality of life and in children on cognitive and learning abilities. There is a solution and it is extremely cost effective and accessible. How can it be that for a growing amount of children, today, in the Netherlands it is unaffordable?
