Power Apps Code Apps went Generally Available in February 2026. If you build on Power Platform — this is a big deal. But there are real gaps that Microsoft hasn’t shipped yet. Here’s the honest picture. WHAT CODE APPS ACTUALLY ARE Code Apps let professional developers build full React and TypeScript web applications inside the Power Platform governance envelope. Real code. Real web frameworks. But with the same DLP policies, ALM pipelines and admin controls as every other Power App. It bridges the gap between pro-dev flexibility and enterprise IT control. That’s the promise — and it’s a real one. WHAT ISN’T AVAILABLE YET — AND DEVELOPERS NEED TO KNOW 📱 Mobile support — not yet Code Apps don’t run on iOS or Android. Mobile support is unlikely before July 2026 with no committed date. If your users need mobile, you need a workaround plan today. 🗄️ FetchXML support — delayed Complex Dataverse queries via FetchXML missed the March/April 2026 target. The team is still exploring phased options. Advanced Dataverse query scenarios need OData or Web API alternatives for now. 🤖 Code Apps AI plugin — undocumented A plugin for AI coding agents is technically live but undocumented and tuned for internal use only. Not production-ready for external developers. 🔌 Connector parity — still incomplete Not all Power Platform connectors are available in Code Apps yet. 8 Power Platform tips every developer should know. Save this. Share with your team. Use it this week. 01. Use Concurrent() to load data in parallel — POWER APPS Stop loading collections sequentially. Concurrent() runs all of them at once. Concurrent(ClearCollect(colA, Source1), ClearCollect(colB, Source2)) 3 sources load in the time of 1. 02. Compose before you Switch — POWER AUTOMATE Store repeated expressions in a Compose action. Reference outputs('Compose_name') everywhere else instead of re-evaluating. Fewer API calls. Easier to debug. 03. Delegation limits will break your app silently — POWER APPS StartsWith delegates to the server. Contains does NOT — it processes locally, max 2,000 rows. At 2,001 rows your filter silently returns wrong results. Know this before go-live. 04. Environment Variables — always, no exceptions — ALM Never hardcode a URL, list name or email address. Use Environment Variables. They swap automatically between Dev, Test and Prod. One solution, all environments. 05. Select() beats Apply-to-each loops — POWER AUTOMATE Need to reshape an array? Use the Select action. It’s 10x faster than a loop, uses fewer actions and has zero concurrency risk. 06. With() — evaluate once, reference many times — POWER APPS With({u: Office365Users.MyProfile()}, Patch(Staff, ..., {Name: u.DisplayName, Email: u.Mail})) One API call instead of two. Cleaner formula, better performance. 07. Dataverse Views are server-side filters — use them — DATAVERSE Always filter via a Dataverse View rather than loading all rows and filtering locally. Views are pre-computed server-side. This is one of the most common performance killers in Power Apps. 08. UpdateContext vs Set() — use both correctly — POWER APPS UpdateContext for screen-level local variables. Set() only when you genuinely need a value across screens. Overusing Set() is a very common performance mistake. Bonus: Run Power Apps Monitor before you ship anything. Studio → Advanced tools → Monitor → Start recording → Test your app. Shows every network call, delegation warning, formula error and performance bottleneck in real time — before your users find them. If you’ve built an Android app and tried to publish it on Google Play recently — you’ve probably hit this wall. Google now requires all new personal developer accounts to complete a mandatory closed testing phase before an app can go live on the Play Store. Here’s exactly what the policy requires: ✅ Minimum 12 real testers opted in to your closed test ✅ Those testers must actively use the app for 14 consecutive days ✅ They must be on real physical Android devices — not emulators ✅ Only after this can you apply for production access The 14-day clock starts when the 12th tester opts in — and resets if anyone drops out before the period ends. And if anyone drops out, the clock is affected and you start waiting again. Google also asks detailed questions about your testing process when you apply for production access. Vague answers get rejected.
