🔊 ANNOUNCEMENT!! THE BRIDGE TEACHERS FELLOWSHIP IS OFFICIALLY OPEN! “I already teach the British curriculum… so why am I still struggling to get better opportunities?” This is a question many experienced teachers quietly ask themselves. The truth is, many teachers already have: - Classroom experience - Subject mastery - Passion for teaching - Continuous professional growth But transitioning into top international and premium schools often requires more than teaching experience alone. It requires: - Professional confidence - Understanding school culture - Strong communication and documentation skills - Interview readiness - Portfolio positioning - Classroom presence and professionalism And many talented teachers were simply never exposed to these things. That is why we created the Bridge Teacher Fellowship at Schoolinka. A FREE 6-WEEK FELLOWSHIP designed to help experienced teachers refine their practice, strengthen their professional identity, and prepare for the standards and expectations of high-performing schools. APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN - https://lnkd.in/eJnNaHgj Please share with your network, colleagues, and friends. Someone around you may be ready for the next level but simply needs the right opportunity, preparation, and exposure to grow.

Today, on Workers’ Day, we celebrate the people who keep our world moving. But we want to take a moment to recognize a group that often doesn’t get enough attention — teachers. Behind every profession we celebrate today, there was a teacher. Someone who showed up, day after day, to build knowledge, shape character, and open possibilities. At Schoolinka, our work is rooted in this belief: If we want to build a better future, we must invest in the people who prepare others for it. So today, we celebrate every teacher, every educator, and every professional committed to doing meaningful work. Happy Workers’ Day. #WorkersDay #Education #Teachers #FutureOfWork #Schoolinka

Our founder Oluwaseun Kayode shared his thoughts on the Teacher Shortage Crisis in the Teacher Pod. Across many schools, the challenge is already visible. Finding teachers is becoming harder, hiring cycles are longer, and the quality of instruction varies widely from classroom to classroom. If this trend continues, the biggest constraint on Africa’s digital future may not be technology access. It may simply be whether enough children have strong foundational literacy to benefit from it. This is a conversation we need to start having more seriously.

Classroom management in low-income and public schools is often discussed as a discipline issue. In reality, it is a context issue. Below are five classroom management principles that are particularly important in under-resourced learning environments. 1. Build structure where life feels unstable For many learners, school is the most predictable space they have. Clear routines, consistent expectations, and steady lesson flow provide psychological safety — and safety reduces disruptive behaviour. 2. Keep lessons active, not passive Large class sizes and limited resources make long lectures ineffective. Short tasks, peer interaction, call-and-response, and simple movement help maintain focus and channel energy productively. 3. Use relationships as a management tool Behaviour improves when learners feel seen. Learning names, listening actively, correcting privately, and separating behaviour from identity build trust and cooperation over time. 4. Focus on clarity, not volume Raising one’s voice may create momentary silence, but clarity creates control. Simple instructions, repeated expectations, and checks for understanding prevent confusion from turning into misbehaviour. 5. Align classroom rules with real life Rules that ignore students’ lived realities are harder to enforce. When learners understand the purpose behind expectations and see fairness in consequences, compliance becomes cooperation. In challenging contexts, strong classroom management is not about control. It is about structure, empathy, and intentional design. Take our free course on classroom management here: https://lnkd.in/eGX-xNK6

Our founder Oluwaseun Kayode speaks about why effective teacher development must build on existing infrastructure to truly scale on #edtechmondays hosted by Mastercard Foundation and Co-creation HUB (CcHUB) Limited (RC 918335) Through our partnership with the @Universal Service Provision Fund, we are deploying teacher training resources and materials on technology investments that already exist in public schools and community hubs across the country. This approach allows us to go deeper, faster, and more sustainably, reaching teachers where they already work and learn. When we build trust and cross-sector leadership across government, technology, and education, the potential to transform teaching and learning at scale becomes real.
