Last week, we hosted a high-level delegation from the newly established Gombe State Information Technology and Digital Economy Commission (GOSIDEC) at our AI Hub in Yaba, Lagos. Led by Director General, Al-Amin Barambu Ph.D., alongside Dr. Ahmed Magem (Executive Director, e-Governance & Digital Economy), Mr. Muhammad Dawaki (Executive Director, ICT & Emerging Technologies), and the Executive Director for Digital Literacy and Partnerships, the visit focused on unlocking collaboration opportunities with DSN - Data Science Nigeria. Discussions centered on advancing AI adoption, strengthening digital public infrastructure, driving innovation, and building the human capital needed to power Gombe State’s digital economy. This engagement signals a clear commitment by the Gombe State Government to accelerate technology-driven growth through strategic partnerships. We look forward to a strong and impactful collaboration. #datasciencenigeria #Gombe #Collaboration

Cost has long been a barrier to accessing frontier AI capabilities. That barrier is beginning to shift. The release of GLM-5.1 by Z.ai introduces a high-performance, cost-efficient model optimized for agentic coding workflows. Key highlights: - 744 billion parameter architecture with mixture-of-experts efficiency - Performance approaching leading proprietary models in coding benchmarks - Significantly reduced cost of access - Open-source release under an MIT license This represents more than a model upgrade. It signals increasing competition between open and proprietary AI systems. For emerging markets, this shift is critical. Lower cost of access expands participation, accelerates innovation, and enables more builders to move from experimentation to deployment. The landscape is evolving rapidly. Accessibility is becoming a competitive advantage. #DataScienceNigeria #OpenSourceAI #AIInfrastructure #DigitalTransformation

An algorithm is not a complex science. It is a structured method for solving problems. At its core, an algorithm follows defined steps to transform input into meaningful output. This principle underpins many everyday technologies: - Recommendation systems - Spam filtering - Conversational AI - Search engines Understanding algorithms is foundational to understanding how intelligent systems operate. Artificial Intelligence is not abstract. It is built on structured logic applied at scale. #AIExplained #Algorithms #DataScienceNigeria #AIEducation NITDA Nigeria Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy ML Collective Data Science Africa(DSA) Data Community Africa DSN Ladies In AI Artificial Intelligence for Development (AI4D)

Nigeria did not simply participate in the India AI Impact Summit 2026. It contributed meaningfully to shaping the conversation. Through the Nigeria AI Collective: - A Global Breakfast convened key ecosystem stakeholders - A national pavilion showcased high-impact solutions - Innovations such as EqualyzAI, mDoc, and Udu Technologies (UduTech) demonstrated Africa-led problem solving The Summit concluded with the New Delhi Declaration, with commitments from 88 countries and an estimated $250 billion directed toward AI development in the Global South. Capital is mobilising. Global attention is increasing. The defining question is execution. Can emerging ecosystems translate momentum into scalable, sustainable impact? Most artificial intelligence systems improve performance. A new class of systems is emerging that improves the process of improvement itself. The Darwin Gödel Machine represents a significant shift in AI research. Rather than executing predefined tasks, it iteratively rewrites its own learning logic, integrating both task execution and meta-optimisation within a unified system. Key observations from recent experiments: - Self-improvement strategies transferred across domains without human redesign - Autonomous development of internal memory and bias-detection mechanisms - Continuous performance gains across coding, robotics, and advanced mathematics This signals a transition toward systems capable of recursive self-enhancement. The implication is clear: the frontier of AI is no longer only about capability, but about autonomy in learning evolution. The critical question now becomes: How do we design governance frameworks for systems whose internal reasoning may exceed human interpretability?
