We sat down with Daniel Vogel, CEO of Bitso at Stellar House CDMX, Stellar Development Foundation’s first time bringing the event to Latin America and the conversation was one we won't forget. Most people build where the opportunities are but Daniel built where they were needed. When he left Harvard, every professor told him the same thing: “stay in the US, that's where the real opportunities are.” He came back to Mexico anyway, convinced that the biggest opportunity was the one nobody else wanted to touch. Today Bitso moves over 10% of all remittances between the US and Mexico and was the first crypto unicorn in Latin America. Twelve years later, Daniel is still as convinced as day one, just about different things. The infrastructure is there. El impulso en la adopción de cripto en América Latina se ha dado porque los sistemas financieros predominantes no ofrecían acceso confiable a una moneda estable, algo que cripto sí logra. Ese es el hallazgo central de nuestro reporte Panorama Cripto en América Latina 2025, que analiza el comportamiento de millones de usuarios en los cuatro mercados donde opera Bitso. Los números hablan por sí solos: en 2025, los activos vinculados al dólar superaron al Bitcoin como la categoría más comprada en la región, con 40% de todas las compras. Y el Bitcoin, aún así, sigue siendo el activo más mantenido en cartera, con 52% de los portafolios. Los usuarios ya están construyendo su patrimonio con estas alternativas. La adopción avanza: el segmento de 18 a 24 años creció 2 p.p. en un año de consolidación, mientras que los traders avanzados operan con tickets entre 5 y 15 veces mayores que los usuarios básicos; ahora, casi 10 millones de usuarios ya forman parte de este ecosistema.
