FX De La Rose

FX De La Rose

The rise of De La Rose seems to have come at a fairly rapid clip. In the months leading up to FX De La Rose, the Puerto Rican singer positioned herself as one of the most consistent in Latin music, appearing prominently on albums by Rauw Alejandro and Dei V in addition to her own singles. A handful of those previously released solo tracks appear here alongside new ones on her debut album. Yet, in this format, her emerging artistry feels far more solid as a contextualised whole than do most first timers’ full-lengths. The production choices here help, changing up her sound from track to track while largely riding a future-facing vibe, evident on the dancehall deconstruction “BRINCAR” and the indulgently sleek, 420-friendly “Peldío”. Topically, she’s covering an emotional spectrum, getting in touch with her needs on the sex-positive “5 minutos” and unapologetically taking down an unworthy ex on the brash, reggaetón-infused “Palgo”. Features from the likes of Eladio Carrión on the streetwise yet sultry “$extape” and repeat collaborator Omar Courtz on the passionate perreo “NUBES” only serve to enhance her aesthetic.
