  • 🔍 Sanctions and AML can no longer operate as parallel silos. As regulatory expectations evolve and financial crime risks become increasingly interconnected, organisations should move towards a more integrated and risk-based approach. Every month, the regulatory landscape shifts a little further. The question for organisations is no longer what is changing, but how prepared they are to respond. This month we explore: • Operational resilience and business continuity testing under DORA • Employment law, ESG, and compliance developments • Asset vs. share deal considerations in Malta • Tokenisation and the evolving digital finance landscape • Safeguarding client funds under FIR/03 Across these areas, one theme is becoming increasingly clear. Regulators are placing greater emphasis on evidence of effectiveness, not just the existence of frameworks, particularly in areas such as resilience, governance, and safeguarding. At BDO Malta, we work with organisations to interpret these developments and translate them into practical, implementable action across legal, regulatory, and operational areas.
