    I've just tested this and it is pretty awesome. Magic was as expected. Anyone that wants to copy-out the markdown output: Put a check-mark in 'text-only results' field before you run the query. I can't explain how grateful we are for you doing this, specially in your spare time. Commented Apr 9, 2024 at 7:17

    @rene Thanks, updated. Commented Apr 9, 2024 at 11:04
  • (As a side note on "the launch date (which you can probably approximate from MIN(Posts.CreationDate))", migrated posts from older sites will break this approximation) Commented May 24, 2024 at 13:40
  • I finally got around to writing some new cross-site queries. dbo.sede_databases is definitely an improvement over what I used before, but could site_url be changed to the canonical URL? The links work, but it's not compatible with things like meta.stackexchange.com/a/316250/295232 and other cross-site analysis which uses both SEDE and a little scraping. • @Glorfindel So the ones that break compatibility are the ones that have been renamed and the database no longer matches the URL, e.g. beer. -> alcohol.? I know of 7 like that (well, 14, including metas); are there others that break for any other reason? Commented Aug 10, 2025 at 1:18
  • @AaronBertrand that's exactly the list I have. Commented Aug 10, 2025 at 6:19
  • @Glorfindel I think the safest way would be to add an additional column, e.g. canon_url. The URL that is output now is still useful because it’s the URL that’s used to generate the data dump filenames, and I’d prefer to fix this with minimal impact to other components or people. Adding a column may break existing queries that use the view, but that is an easy fix. Commented Aug 10, 2025 at 13:39
  • @AaronBertrand definitely works for me! I was planning to slowly migrate my old queries, but no rush. I can wait 6-8 weeks :) Thanks for the swift response. Commented Aug 10, 2025 at 13:47
  • @Glorfindel Added canonical_url and updated these answers. Let me know if you come across any issues. Commented Aug 10, 2025 at 18:49
