The Duthulhiv were a culture that had been in historical conflict with the Vulcans. In the past, supposed dignitaries from the planet Duthul in the Orion Arm had arrived to meet with the Vulcans for diplomatic negotiations, but instead they proved to be pirates who descended upon Vulcan with a fleet, leading to an extensive war between both peoples. - The Duthulhiv most likely represent one of the ancient Orion-slaver cultures or their descendants. They are also interpreted as pre-Orions. Another possibility is that the Duthulhiv were not native to Duthul but were a foreign race which had settled the planet after the Da'Nikhirch.
