There is too little demand. See the resolution of the S8, and how they went back on it. You can't really tell the difference, and it consumes more battery.

Incredibly ironic how you can't get a deadstock phone with a 1440p display today at an affordable price. If Gionee could manufacture a 1440p display on a low-end phone back in 2015 on the Elife E8, what stops other brands from doing it?
