Samsung unveils Galaxy Buds On, its first clip-on earphones

Just a day after leaked images of Samsung’s first clip-on earphones surfaced online, the company has officially unveiled the Galaxy Buds On in South Korea.

The Galaxy Buds On feature a clip type design that is claimed to be comfortable for extended periods of use, including during outdoor activities such as running. The open design also allows users to remain aware of their surroundings.

The earphones support touch controls for music playback and calls, with sensors positioned at the back of the buds.

They are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 chipset and a Class D amplifier, which together deliver up to 9.5 hours of continuous use on a single charge, according to Samsung.

The Galaxy Buds On feature three microphones and a bone conduction-based vibration sensor that can detect when the user is speaking, helping reduce background noise during calls.

When connected to a Galaxy smartphone or tablet with Galaxy AI, users can invoke the assistant and perform various actions. The earphones can also be used with Gemini Live.

The earphones also support Head Gestures, allowing users to answer or end calls, check notifications, cancel alarms, and perform other actions using gestures.

The Galaxy Buds On are priced at KRW 299,999 ($220) and will be available in South Korea from October 27. Samsung says the earphones will also roll out in other regions in phases.

I didn't know that samsung make nose buds now. Did samsung hire a "MoDeRn AuDiEnCe" engineer?

At first glance, without reading the entire headline, I was like, "that is some weird looking over-the-ear headphones" 😅

They seem to be really similar to my Philips TAQ2000(got them new for around ~$11), which are dirt cheap and sound really decent. I wouldn't worry about hygiene - you don't really insert them into your ear canal, you kind of clip them on...
