          LOL, 99% of people have NO idea how to change the f/stop, or, what it is useful for (bokeh for the most part). People use the automatic mode most of the time and just "let the software figure it out". Changing the f/stop, shutter speed, ISO can really enhance the image quality of a camera, but not so much in a phone because the image sensor & lens is VERY TINY. A variable aperture isn't going to really enhance much with such a tiny image sensor.
          Samsung & others had variable aperture, but have pretty much given it up. Probably due to the COST associated with making something that tiny. A little jolt (drop) and the blades inside get jammed, rendering the camera ineffective.
          You want a real variable aperture camera, do yourself a favor and get a d-slr or mirrorless camera, lenses, flash, filters etc and LEARN photography.



          the main shooter gets a variable aperture ranging from f/1.5 to f/4.0. This will likely be appreciated by photography enthusiasts, as it gives them more control over depth of field and added flexibility in different shooting scenarios.

                      As Samsung user, I can say, Iphone is better harware overall and better tools and algorithms for photography. But iOS is a stone age OS and I'd never switch to it.

They default to a setting that looks good on the phones display rather than a natural color. Changing it helps a lot, also using the displays color filter setting to move the screen to a colder tint helps so much with iOS.

                                    The only thing this really seems to have over everything else is the one thing the iPhone has always been good at: video recording. It has a level of video processing that people have used in actual film production and is able to easily record straight to an SSD which ironically eliminates the needs or the higher storage tiers.

                                    Other than that... it's hard to justify buying anything but the Xiaomi 17 where it's available. Photos are pretty close, battery life is way better (both want as of writing not that common chargers, but AVS will be more common as time goes on than Xiaomi's proprietary thing) and while HyperOS has issues iOS hs got significantly worse too.

                                      potato4k, 27 Sep 2026Geez, these fast charging compatibility is getting out of h... moreApple at least managed to ignore all of them until AVS came out, which is a mandatory feature on every PD3.2 compatible charger, a spec that many chargers meet now because Apple deliberately misled people into believing it was necessary last year when none of the 17 series supported it. PPS was always an optional feature that many (particularly OEM laptop) chargers never supported, let alone anyone else's proprietary BS.
