Huawei Mate 90 RS brings flashy design and 2TB storage trim
The brand-new Mate 90 Pro Max is an impressive phone on its own, but Huawei has an even more special version dubbed Mate 90 RS Ultimate Design. It’s a nod to previous Ultimate Design Huawei phones and features a more premium look than the Mate 90 Pro Max while retaining its key hardware specs.
Mate 90 RS gets a supercar-inspired back, which is available in Crimson, Pure White, and Jet Black colors. It features an octagon-shaped camera island with a raised center panel spanning from the edge of the island to the lower half of the device. The camera hardware is the same as on the Mate 90 Pro Max – a 50MP main (1/1.28-inch) RYYB sensor with a variable f/1.4 - 4.0 aperture, a 200MP periscope (1/1.28-inch) with 4x optical zoom and a 40MP ultrawide.
It also offers native support for Huawei’s Ruiying Z10 external camera module, which brings its own 1” RYYB sensor with 50MP resolution covering a 24-240mm focal range. This matches the Mate 90 Pro Max Collector’s Edition, which is the only other Mate 90 series device to support the external camera. The Z10 module is sold separately from the phone and retails for CNY 5,999 ($895)
While Mate 90 RS and 90 Pro Max share identical hardware like the Kirin 9500 Pro chip, 6.9-inch tandem LTPO OLED display and 6,800 mAh battery, the RS variant is configurable with up to 2TB storage while the Pro Max tops out at 1TB. The RS also gets IP69 ingress protection and satellite connectivity.
Huawei Mate 90 RS color options
Mate 90 RS comes in three options – a 16/512GB trim which retails for CNY 12,999 ($1,939), a 16GB + 1TB storage version at CNY 14,999 ($2,237) and a top-tier 16GB RAM and 2TB storage model at CNY 18,999 ($2,834). Shipments in China are expected to kick off on November 11.

Ultimate design and it just looks stupider. It's like the race car bed of phones.
