Anonymous, 28 Oct 2026There was a statement from the employee of the company that... moreAnd the ripple effect of that is real. A low 60 percent yield rate compared to their usual 93 percent means the actual supply trickling out is severely restricted. That bottleneck naturally creates an artificial sense of scarcity, which in turn inflates the perceived demand for the product.

But that perception is largely a misconception. It makes the device look like it is flying off the shelves because it is hard to get, when in reality, the hardware constraints and production slip ups are just choking the supply chain from the inside out.

All of this feeds right back into what I was saying elsewhere: there has not been a genuine outcry among everyday iPhone users for a folding device to begin with. That so called demand is itself largely an illusion created by the perpetually online tech community. Had the Duo not been a thing this year, all you would have seen is an increase to the overall sales of the 18 Pro series, not a mass exodus of iPhone users chasing whatever else they can fold.

Oh how convenient, but whatever 🤷‍♂️

My feelings regarding foldables as a whole are completely irrelevant here, in no way have I defended Apple. I have criticized every single move they’ve made thus far regarding the iPhone Duo. Honestly, it feels less like a real disagreement and more like a need for someone to play the villain in a script you've already written in your head.

And whether the "where is Apple's foldable?" point was phrased as an argument or a statement is pure semantics. Either way, it was a narrative that lived almost exclusively inside online tech circles, not with everyday buyers.

Anonymous, 28 Oct 2026Because Nobody has heard of it or ever bought one.Because it passed the durability tests unlike this overpriced trash with fruit logo on the back.

If a company nobody has heard of can deliver, what's Apple's excuse for failing?

You didn't call out on Apple made a product premature and fundamentally flawed qualifies. Instead your passive-aggressive on how bad foldable phone/screen is in general and calling out (if fact the only thing you call out) is how Apple shouldn't enter this market. So no, you didn't call out on Apple Duo, you simply try to imply it was a bad tech that Apple shouldn't touch. And as I have said, all your statement is null that the fact Apple already release and selling the phone.

Oh, and btw quote what you said "Yes, the "where is Apple's foldable?" argument" - this was not an argument, it was a statement. And now the fact Apple is failing at this 1st gen now makes a valid argument the Apple isn't the supreme quality / design that the Apple users makes it out to be. And how it gathers so much debris under the IP68 rating that Apple fail to notice with it QA testing prior relesae is even more bugus.

That aside, you still haven't even managed to explain how calling a product premature and fundamentally flawed qualifies as defending it. You just keep throwing the word around because you can't actually refute a single thing I've said.

[deleted post]Ahh, here we go. Let put aside whether who makes the better foldable. Often I hear about the Chinese phone fans rant about being better value, more innovative. Who was the one the went and made it a product segment? Not Chinese vendors. Who still persist to make it 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc generation of foldable, despite 'some' fans call it gimmick, expensive and doom not to succeed? Chinse vendor fans.

                        Funny how that turned out.

If there's a design flaw why should you need apple care? Surely it should be covered under warranty. Feel sorry for those that have shelled out with no cover.

There was a statement from the employee of the company that does the assembly for Apple which basically said that Apple deliberately allow loosening the quality control so that they can deliver the product faster. If this allegation is true then there would be a heavy backlash or even legal circumstances.

For context, iPhone duo yield rate is only 60%. Compare it to 93% of regular iPhone. Having less yield means Apple has to either cancel some of the pre orders or make them wait much longer...
