Can't wait for this gem.
Finally, a design that lets you enjoy media without having to squint or looking like you’re holding a TV remote. The Nubia 5 Neo Max is fine—it’s a good device—but Oppo is in a whole different league.

Asgardian, 13 Oct 2026Damn, about time to get something like the Mate 20X back. I... moreThe Mate 20X was perfect for me, I would love to get a phone with a similar screensize. 6.35" 16x9 matches its width, but alas not its height:

Damn, about time to get something like the Mate 20X back. I recently purchased the Poco F9 Ultra but had to return it because, even though it's supposed to have a large screen at 6.85" - I found it absolutely tiddly to work with and hated it!

This will probably launch outside of China with a LYT600 main, a JN5 tele, and an 8mp ultrawide. Don’t forget the D7300. And the unnecessarily large three million mAh battery. All for the low, low price of €999.

Mister No, 13 Oct 2026It's a great idea, and we hope there will be more of t... moreThe only way to properly communicate screen size is using surface area (cm2). GMSA does this, of course, but most manufacturers do not calculate this for you. And they also cheat at the measurement of the screen's diameter since the corners are rounded.

The screen size (height, width) isn't as important as the overall dimensions of a phone, so understanding the total height and width of a phone's case is more meaningful.

Why not a square screen instead ? No need to turn your phone...

Now I understand why I always missing my Xiaomi Max G1.

It reminds me of my old Nexus 2 tablet, which I miss a lot. It was so useful for watching videos and it fit in my pocket...

This has always been the golden ratio. The extra long phones are a mistake

It's a great idea, and we hope there will be more of them. But maybe it's time to think about a new way to label screen size, given the increasing number of different aspect ratios. It might be better to say how wide and tall a particular screen is, because it's hard to tell how big a 6.35-inch screen actually is in a 16:9 or 16:10 format.

Welcome back, Mi Max. A big phone feels like a mini-tablet. Modern smartphones would feel incredibly boring without China harking back to the good old days. It would be great if China brought back compact phones soon. They are doing something similar to remastering old games like most game developers nowadays.

Finally they bring back the usable screen aspect ratio. I've had enough of zooming in and out my screen just to be able to use it

Seems like a Pura X View in size and battery. But why not just 16:9? Stop overthinking it.

Well I hope this form factor soon comes with a Qualcomm SoC.

Waiting for India Launch, smartphone designs are very much dated and need some fresh innovation with respect to aspect ratio and hardware features
