You often see agents, harnesses, inference engines and pipelines made for Macs or Linux/WSL first. Windows/Powershell is kind of treated as an afterthought. Shouldn’t really make much of a difference for professionals, since any competent dev would sandbox their agent harness and project folder in a Docker container or Linux VM anyway, regardless of host operating system.

Why the F would I trade in my Mac for a Microslop.
I'd rather trade in my Mac for another Mac.
Mac is expensive sure.
But you get every bang-for-the-buck in a Mac compared to what Microslop is currently offering.
Even if it has "nVidia" in it, nVidia is no longer a selling point.
nVidia just make "fake frames" now rather than gaming.
Not to mention 16-pin 12VHPWR that melts in your computer, not in your hands.
I wouldn't be surprised if nVidia spark would melt inside Microslop surface.
As for Linux, there are contributors that are working on Linux that run on ARM64 / AArch64.
Currently, the Linux community is working on making it work on Mac book's with M chips, but I hear that there are contributors that are testing Linux on Snapdragon chips.

This thing might end up better supported under Linux than the latest macs, I'll give it that though.
Regarding missing apps, generally, this is true for some niche old apps, but irrelevant for this kind of hardware, designed with main purpose of running LLMs locally.

I'm just glad there's something fast again in the PC space. Was feeling a bit jealous of the newer M5 and M6.

but the operating system is a toy from the stone age, windows subsystem runs more and more Linux stuff poorly, why don't microsoft offer the inhouse Linux distribution Azure to the Professional

One can already get a MacBook Pro 16" with 128GB of unified memory. It costs $1000 more, but offers much better CPU performance. I guess if LLM performance will be better on the Surface Laptop Ultra, it would be the better bargain.
Though Mac Studio with 128GB is currently cheaper than Surface RTX Spark Dev Box, at $5100.
