In next 20 years the phones will went undergo folding to a tiny radio receiver and can be unfolded even to laptop style.
Tech is not there yet but with possibility of liquid metal soon or later we will get even further than here.
Just my seeing of future.
Unless a possible conflict between EU and Russia says something else. And whole world will stuck in nuclear winter.

i0S.- Never.- Again., 28 Sep 2026Hmm... Then why change to an S27 Ultra? unless you are like... moreNo no, nothing compulsive.
The reason is quite simple, if early leaks prove to be accurate, the Galaxy S27 will sport a re-designed "horizontal" camera island, see the two links.
First there was this: https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s27_ultra_to_have_one_less_camera_then_its_predecessor-news-72631.php
... and then later on this one: https://www.gsmarena.com/take_a_look_at_the_samsung_galaxy_s27_ultra_in_some_fresh_highquality_cad_renders-news-74333.php
Problem with Galaxy''s actual vertical camera-island is that it "protrudes" to far downward, and so the lowermost lens (nearly) always interferes with third party/aftermarket magnetic accessories like power banks and card holders (for 80 % if not more geared towards iPhones with their horizontal camera-islands).
Example: The Xiaomi Ultra Thin which was featured here today.
If you go to Xiaomi's product page you'll see that they give a Galaxy compatibility warning.
The same problem for the Benks/Pitaka Kevlar magnetic card holders.
And given that my use-case is (also) a commuter one, I'm rather freakish about weight, compactness and pocketability !
So a next S27 with a redesigned rear might be a reason to upgrade earlier than usual.
(the S25+ i bought last March (then swapped for a S25 because too cumbersome) replaced my plain vanilla S21).

Plastic back (or glass fibre composite as Xiaomi calls it) ruins it to be honest. Not everyone wants a flashy phone like the blue and red colour options for the 18 series, they have glass backs and it really doesn't make sense why Xiaomi would use plastic for the other colours, only saves several grams which isn't noticeable, whilst making the phone feel worse and more scratch resistant

https://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_n810-3890.php
I see no single reason why there shouuldnt be a 10 inch phone if we can have 4-5 inch tablets like Nokia N810 or N800 or Amazon fire HD or Sony P series. They all 6 inch or smaller which is a phone category.
So if we can have below 6 inch tablets we can have above 7 inch phones.

I'm talking about brand new purchases, which have dropped in price with time.
Only problem is finding them, as they get regularly out-of-stock. Offline markets are best suited for this.
I know people who got themselves a Find X9 for around €550, and now that phone is out of stock, replaced with the inferior Find X9s, which now costs €750 for whatever reasons.

For most people Snapdragon 8 Elite from 2 years back is enough to handle whatever you throw at it despite scoring half of what it scores in Antutu.
Battery life/capacity is also more on Chinese flagships compared to Samsung and Apple alternatives.

I am not buying phone anytime soon. But flagships are important for 3rd world countries like mine because after 2-3 years, prices come down enough for us to be able to manage the purchase. So both price and popularity of them is an important factor.
This looks very nice on paper, everything maxed out. But their popularity would matter on little things. How's stability, how's video recording, how do it handle tricky dynamic ranges, how's UI for daily usage, what's gaming performance for long gaming sessions consistently. Unless we don't get reviews with depth on these phones, they will always be side/weird phone choices and not popular choice. We had LG G series in similar position 10 years back when specs were maxed out but phones were very unreliable resulting in very low sales as compared to early S series phones.
