I doubt that without FACE ID and Pro Level Triple Camera it can appeal to the premium customers willing to pay upwards of 2k.
For me personally no Face ID is a the biggest deal breaker!

Foldables aren’t the future
The... moreI agree with you with everything except the first sentence.
Foldables are not the future for me, rollables are (Samsung Slide).
Will see how the Slide pans out in real life and as I said in another comment: can't wait to buy the Slide 3 :)
Now for the first sentence: Been using foldables for quite some time now, they are not that terrible and from another my comment I just realised that I used Galaxy S9 for 3 years and then went to Z Fold 3 and used it for 4 years. And I hope that you didn't say that foldables break faster because you can make a dent on the main screen with your nails. That is not a real motion you will ever ever do on any screen. You will scratch the screen with your fingers, but not press hard on in with your nails. Anyway, the main screen is the most protected thing in your phone, because it's mostly closed. And I never seen the hinge break for nothing.

He has 3 Fold Z mobiles sitting home with broken screens unable to fix it due to expensive repair. He has moved to Feature Phone now. Totally fed up with iPhone prices and Foldable durability.

LOL, ONLY if the phone "takes off" and sells well! If sales don't meet expectations, there may only be ONE version of the iPhone fold.
I'm still thinking they may come out with a "flip" folding phone.
They limited production (according to them, due to complexity of construction LOL). I think that was them being cautious to see how well that the duo sells. By limiting production of the folding iphone they can play both sides...if it outsells the number constructed, they can claim it as a win win. If it doesn't sell that well (iphone air?) then they can scrap it, and won't have a ton of inventory to get rid of.

Been on iOS platform across all devices.mac, iPad, iPhone, watch. Recently bought the oppo x9 ultra only for the camera and it’s been worth every penny I’ve spent. Apple cannot match that quality in the coming years. Other than the camera still using iPhone for daily driver. Let’s say ease of managing things on ios. Android has to many options to customise and sometimes it becomes more tedious.
Coming to foldables, I have seen my friends run around trying to find a cheaper option to repair the screen or repair the hinge as over a period of time the hinge DOESNT open or the screen goes blank. And it’s expensive.
Coming to duo with a phone with that price point I wonder what will be the cost of replacing the screen ?
Thats the reason I also opted out of the oppo N6 and stuck to a regular brick phone.
Apple comes late to the party and claims to be the best. Let’s wait for real users to post their stories and real world issues to come out first. Apple still has a long way to go.

I passed on foldables because they have QoL downgrades compared to glass slab price equivalents (usually flagships) and still end up being more expensive and more fragile

So if the actual Duo costs 2000$ in the US, an eventual SE will cost 1500$?
What about the mentioned mini. A smaller screen and you’re pretty much in regular smartphone size territory.

Maybe it will have a product line of foldables that extinguish the legacy line up like those in number product line (e.g 18, 19, 20 series)

I like these passport sized devices. I have small hands so they work for me, always been a fan of compact devices. Easy to fit in a pocket also. Very convenient. I still remember when I had my motorola clam-kinda phone, loved that.

At first I thought I'd never buy any Apple products.
Then I realized I wouldn't buy iPhones.
Then I realized I wouldn't buy an iPhone Duo.
Now I will have a choice of not buying not just all iPhones, but multiple Duos as well!
What a success story!
