It's not just protection, it's Apple's way of protecting its own wallet by making yours thinner. Fans are told that expensive equals premium, but in reality it's just plastic with a logo.

                      Wow those are ugly and as always, insanely overpriced. If these were super thin Aramid cases, I could atleast argue that the price comes from the premium materials used. But it clearly doesn't use any special materials or they would have talked about it. I paid 40$ for my Spigen Enzo Aramid case and that has TPU, Aramid and Aluminum, is actually thin plus adds magnets to my phone, too. Even with a stand it's 60€ max. 150€ for a case this bland and basic is just insane.
