Most Japanese phones back from about 2007 onwards featured these screens, some better than others, and I think it makes sense for cities and people that are using public transport so that people can't peek at your screen easily.
I honestly wouldn't care much about viewing angle quality as long as the main viewing isn't compromised. Each to their own.

I hope that the Pro/Ultra get all the features and the vanilla (and maybe +) get more stripped down to the essentials a bit more. I just need a basic phone with an amazing screen, fast chipset, great software that's efficient, in a slim portable lightweight package. I don't need 10 cameras, satellite messaging, privacy display, coffee maker....

I don't see the point of this private display. I mean, all my banking details and credit cards are already stored on my smartphone, so I don't have to enter anything anymore. A fingerprint is enough.

I was under the impression that this feature comes with regular screen compromises and the users who actually have it currently don't even use nor like it.

Nikojas, 09 Sep 2026S27 and S27+ are becoming mid rangers at flagship price. N... moreThe S base model is expensive-ish (but not really after typical Samsung discounts) for being the smallest mobile device with flagship SOC on the market.

So the two higher-end models will have the worst display on any flagship phone on the market, got it. That's fantastic!

I've A-B compared the S25 Ultra and S26 Ultra's display viewing angles, and they're really worse on the S26. Who cares about a privacy display if the display in a 1k€ phone is worse than in 400€ ones 😰

Still rather than this missing good old shatterproof glass used by Motorolas especially the Z force series. A much better feature a screen that cannot be broken.

S27 and S27+ are becoming mid rangers at flagship price. No real upgrades, nothing new but a higher price. They will exist to make you pay extra for the Pro or Ultra.
