          After 10 years EVERYTHING has changed, from apps to manufacturing.
          Even Apple failed with minis or the Air. It is a big deal to not just copy like most these days.

            I really hope more brands will make phones with screens like that. I'd love a mid-ranger with those proportions, and with Google apps available.

                    Most of these ratios were made because of physical and technical restrictions, not because they compared 1000 options and these were the best.
                    Will see what type of pockets people will have to carry this and how they're gonna hold it, safely, with one hand, because for everything larger we have tablets and laptops. And foldables. Sorry!

                      A stranger format that isn't as pocketable as the "normal" ones and without another feature that regular people really need.

                        I clearly think this is going to be a bestseller that all the other Chinese brands will follow (offering a 'wide, non-folding' format). Even Samsung won't be able to escape this trend and will eventually launch its own.

I know what phones are like, and I use a Z Fold 7 with that narrow a$$ display so I'm not disappointed at Huawei for trying to bring back the best aspect ratio but acting like this is some revolutionary design is wild. Just as people are amazed by the Fold 8 when that display has the exact same ratio as the first Galaxy Note, which I also had and loved

                                    16:9 is the tried and trusted aspect ratio. You can deviate a bit, but every other ratio has failed. Those 1:1 folds or 21:9 flips (and Sony xD). I hate my 20:9 phone's ratio - too big in pockets, but still to narrow in hand and can't read anything comfortably. We should have stayed at 2:1 (18:9).
                                    Huawei just proves, times and times again, without them, there is no invention.
