The Extreme Pro costs 455 Euro. Insane...

Aren't they then ewaste? Also, the same can happen with the wired headphones too, the circuit board can also get kaput, now it works, now it does not... i have cheap bluetooth headphones, bought for like 39€ from Anker, yeah not sustainable here, but were the first ones in the home, so more or less bought for the tests. They are 5 years old now and battery is still ok. What i am saying, is, some might get bad, but most do not for quite a few years if you know who to take care of them. Fairphone just made that on another level with their repairable offerings.

Al... moreI just looked up the Fairbuds and they're a step in the right direction in terms of easy battery replacement but there are still multiple things that can't really be replaced that will fail and will make them e-waste. First is the charging contacts, which on the first and last pair of earbuds I had (they weren't Fairbuds but they as similar exposed charging pin design) lasted five WEEKS before it just stopped charging them, second is of course the circuit board will just stop working one day and that's it (their over ears can take analogue audio directly through USB-C and don't have this problem, so they clearly know the problem exists).
Wireless earbuds are just objectively bad products all round.

Anonymous, 13 Aug 2026Even if a lot of people aren't going to go for it due ... moreMeah, your argument doesn't really have much power. All their headphones and earbuds are repairable, and yeah, some might call them “like others” accusing them of making phones like this to sell earbuds.... but... hmm, maybe?? There's no other company that actually rewards you for not buying a new phone, and that's not all... they give you 8 years of software support and 5 years of warranty for €549. Does your argument make sense now? 😉 Every other company is basically trying to make you feel guilty for keeping your old one instead of buying the newest model. Fairphone does the exact opposite, and by nature alone, that's on another level.
Yeah, they need revenue, and yeah, they need to get bigger to keep up, but boy, they give back exactly as much as the customer gives them... or maybe just a little less...they need to survive tough, so nope that is not an arguement in a world where every other company (besides hmd) is happy about your battery dying.

Cpt.Power, 12 Aug 2026Friend i swap my phones every two years so i can buy any br... moreHmm, well, then this device is not for you. Actually, this device can be an even better option for emerging markets than a $150 one, simply because you can repair it. It has a whopping 5-year warranty and 8 years of software support, more than almost any other device on the planet. A cheaper device can end up being garbage per year and way more expensive in the long run. Do the math. But i know you did, you sound sain.
Anyway, putting ethics and everything good aside, Fairphone is still a damn good option for anyone who doesn't need to play on their phone 24/7 and simply needs their phone to work... and work... and work.
Turning tough to the real issue you pointed out. A 1 TB phone is yeah...meah...not viable and way to ex0ensive for what it is. An external storage "can break” is not exactly the argument you think it is. Everything can break. Your phone's internal storage can fail too, and when it does, good luck replacing that. A reputable 2 TB microSD card might cost around €150, and if it eventually dies, you buy a new one. Well, if you didn't back your files up, well... you're to blame. But the issues is exactly like with any other phone that doesn't have this huge storage possibility. If the device dies and you did not back up...well you know who's to blame.
Anyway, what I want to say is that if it breaks, you replace the card, not the entire phone. That's literally one of the advantages of removable storage. The other one is that you can just put it into another device and there's all your data. Try transferring 400 GB of data to another phone and see how that goes 😉 Let alone 1 TB.
And no, cloud storage isn't some magical replacement either. It's WAY slower and completely dependent on an internet connection. A good 2 TB local storage card gives you your data physically with you, without needing a network connection.
Also, yes, there are phones with 1 TB of internal storage, but 2 TB of internal storage isn't a normal phone option. So if we're talking about getting lots of storage without paying flagship prices, a repairable phone + removable storage makes a hell of a lot more sense than you're making it sound.
So “the SD card can break” is... what exactly? That's supposed to disprove the whole concept of replaceable storage? 😂

If i always sell my flagship for 25-50% of its original value then i am making a solution for those who needs best phone for not best money.
Nowdays everybody overpricing everything i am making a solutions.
I see it those who buy from me see it too you are blind to a solution you see only problems.

Even if a lot of people aren't going to go for it due to value and I find the lack of a native 3.5mm contradictory for what's supposed to be an environment focused device (the dongles and / or wireless earbuds you will have to buy and eventually are going to have a larger environmental impact overall than just putting a DAC chip and the extra copper / brass in the phone, not to mention circuit boards still aren't particularly recyclable), I can applaud the effort put into making something designed to be repaired.

Another thing fairphone does not do flagships and a 256GB is not enough.
SD cards arent option they are easy tio break and they are much slower than UFS 3.0 or 4.0 or never.
Because i swap every two years and i always manage to get my older device which i am trying to sell for 50% of its original value it does not matter.

I know it's not what Fairphone is about but quite a shame that they never used the potential of simple to change parts on it and developed alternative variants of some of them. I'd be a customer yesterday if the front display could be changed for a sliding one with a physical QWERTY beneath it. ❤️ (e.g. BB Priv, for those unfamiliar with the concept) Probably even if there were a keyboard without a slider.
An alternative with buttons for gamers? Anyone remembers Xperia Play?
One with a slightly smaller display and buttons for the camera + a larger camera module with Xenon flash to turn it into a semi-decent compact camera?
Make a proper DAC/headphone amp available, perhaps replacing one of the cameras? Could also back the 3,5 mm jack for that one, which they should do anyway, its removal kind of goes against what Fairphone stands for IMO.
So much unused potential, but still obviously very nice that there's a company that seems to give half a sh

Anonymous, 12 Aug 2026I'm interested in this phone and brand for a long time... moreYeah, I waited throughout the Fairphone 4 and 5, so more than 4 years, and apparently I hurried up buying the 6th one. Now I want the 6+ 🤣
Letting jokes aside, the 6th is quite good. I only have two issues with it, but they’re most likely because of Murena /e/OS, which I have installed on it. Some brightness issues, where the phone doesn’t learn my settings, so it’s always too dark for me, and the brightness changes aren’t smooth and are too fast. The camera HDR also doesn’t actually do anything with the official app.
Sadly, I only used the phone for one day with the original software before I installed /e/OS 🤔. Oh well. The battery lasts two days without issues with Google out of the device, so that means something.
