17 July 2026
It all boils down to design and performance trade-offs.

Anonymous, 18 Jul 2026"Of course, the larger sensor means better low-light p... moreIt's a combination of large sensor + Larger lens diameter or aperture + exposure time. Benifits of a large sensor to a smaller sensor with same size aperture is that - " your exposure time is reduced to reduce motion blur and camera shakes" plus to bucket size( pixel size ) is large to collect more light. In simple words - same amount of light enters through the aperture ( hole ) but more is collected in a large sensor due large bucket ( pixel)size than small sensor with small buckets (pixels). ( Given megapixel are same in both small and large sensor ). Megapixel are the no. of bucket in a sensor. Number of pixels doesn't matter, size of the pixels matter. A 50 mp of a 1 inch sensor have larger bucket size than a 50mp of 1/1.3 inch sensor. A 50 mp of a 1 inch sensor have larger bucket size than even a 200 mp 1 inch sensor. In 2026 , We got a 200mp 1/1.12 sensor with aperture of 1.5. Can it beats a 50 mp 1inch with 1.8 aperture ?

The samsung galaxy s26 ultra does not use the ISOCELL HP2 for the periscope as the article seemed to imply, instead it used that sensor for the main camera.

Anonymous, 23 Jul 2026I'd carry that no problem. I don't mind the camer... moreI respect that but such a phone isn't viable. Nobody would make that because it wouldn't sell nearly enough to turn a profit. It would be fun seeing that but realistically it won't happen.

adsubzero, 20 Jul 2026When? Never. You're asking for 1 inch sensor behind 3x... moreI'd carry that no problem. I don't mind the camera bulging out.

Taanidulac, 18 Jul 2026Not really To have the same quality Oppo put F1.5 again... moreYou are wrong, F-stop has nothing to do with sensor quality.

It's just easier to fit brighter lens on smaller sensor.

Lovins, 20 Jul 2026i want this camera spec Main : Variable Aperture 1.4-4.0,... moreAnd even with those specs it'd be a severely limited toy. Just buy a real camera. Saves loads of money and time while getting incomparably more impressive results.

Lovins, 20 Jul 2026i want this camera spec Main : Variable Aperture 1.4-4.0,... moreWhen? Never. You're asking for 1 inch sensor behind 3x-10x variable lens??? You know that has to be like 3-4cm thick? Would you carry a phone like that??

                i want this camera spec
Main : Variable Aperture 1.4-4.0, 35mm 1 inch Lofic with stacked dram
Tele : 70mm-230mm continues zoom, 1 inch Lofic with stacked dram
ultra wide : Variable Aperture 1.4-4.0, 14mm 1 inch Lofic

                i can buy even $2000++
how long will this happen? 2030? 2050?

Why to not add all theree.
Would be nice to have a phone with lets say different MPix cameras and even a selfie cameras.

                    Oppo put F1.5 against F1.8

LV426, 18 Jul 2026You are incredible dumb, nobody is talking about Vivo :D So... moreEvery time there is a Vivo post your comment appears with the word "crap" attached.

I've told you this more than once, but I see you insist on continuing to show up.

But you must also have a pretty boring life because you only have to look at your comment history here to know what kind of person you are.

"Of course, the larger sensor means better low-light performance and generally better image quality"

No, it doesn't, a common misunderstanding.
The amount of light from an object (or the amount of light at a given field of view, for example 240mm field of view) depends on the effective lens diameter and exposure time, not on the sensor size, that's why telescopes are so large, they don't necessarily need a large sensor.

Even detachable such gadgets will be welcomed, instead of after market zoom kits.

Instead of adding more 200mp camera that won't be any better than 50mp camera at night scenery, what about adding 1 thermal camera instead? It is baffling that no ultra phones have thermal camera in 2026 yet. Those who have a rtx 5090 GPU would buy them in a heart beat..
