Tecno and visual artist Angélica Dass start the “100 Portraits of Becoming” initiative

07 July 2026
The initiative aims to capture 100 authentic portraits of individuals worldwide and document their unique journeys of becoming.

I clicked on this article to read what it says people were becoming. I read the whole article, and I still don't know what people are becoming. GSMArena is starting to give me a headache! 🤕

I’m not racist, I just want to put people with different skin tone into separate groups where only brown and black skin tones are celebrated and pale skin is demonized. Got it..

I belong to India, where people are mostly of skin tones between white and black. The fair ones are not exactly as white as the British or Americans usually are, and the darker ones are not the darkest shade ever. "Wheatish" is how we describe most of us.
My comment was aimed to my countrymen, that you should accept your skin tone as perfect for you. I don't mean we should be proud as in to demean others.

Antiracism is not about boundaries and walls between shades, it's about acceptance of all in my humble opinion, although I'm (clearly) not a subject expert here.

Anonymous, 08 Jul 2026You just don't see the racism in her comments. She ... moreWhom did I see racism in? I didn't quote anyone. Who do you refer as "her" in your comment? Are you talking about Angelica Dass?

I saw racism in the Indian selfie cameras which make your face whiter, fairer or brighter. This entire trend to make a face fairer than actual, is a racism of a kind, even if unintentional. I'm not even referring to a lady at all.

As for Angelica, I don't quite know her to form a judgment, as she's from a different country and culture.

So all white people can be proud of their skin tone too?

I guess you don't see how fighting racism with racism doesn't work.

She states the CAMERA is BIASED. Now we need to find out which camera sensors are more biased and have those companies pay reparations.

Come to India, you'll see Amitabh Bachchan sir on anything and everything.

Somebody at Tecno considered the "Dimensity 7400 Ultimate" as the 'ultimate' choice you can have for performance. Isn't it?

But seriously, a good step against racism, be proud of your skin tone. It's a commendable move. We should now move away from this AI enhancement, infact "white-ment", if I might use the term.

Years later, what do you want? Memories of how you actually looked, or a whitewash laid on every pixel that's remotely your face or skin?

Your camera has skin tone bias. Lets remove those assumptions being assumed by Angelica.

I'm more interested in the Tecno modular concept phone. They should bring it out asap.
