Microsoft to cut 2.5% of its workforce in yet another round of layoffs

More than 5,000 people will likely lose their jobs pretty soon.


Employees getting laid off: "NOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
Microsoft: "Ho hum! Just another day..." (proceeds to put AI in their place)

AI is not the answer to every human job. Tell that to the big corps doing it, though, and they'll... well, agree with you while still doing it. 😵‍💫

    Stupid AI trip. And WinDOS...nobody needs it anymore. Sluggish, slow, dated...nothing compared a decent Linux Distro. MX Linux does run out of the box circles around Win11, stability, updates (daily!) memory management, etc...and 5056986 others, too...everything's better than WinDOS nowadays. And no telemetry and data collectors like Microslop, or Cannonical...no forced M$ account also....but peace of mind, and being free from this.

      Since Microslop never bothers about software quality or user experience, AI can do their job fine!!

        2.5% is a a gimmick to say that Microsoft is firing few people, its NOT few people, its literally 5700 people. Thats more employees than some companies have (example Steam).

          Microslop April 2025: over 30% of our code is AI generated
          since August 2025: every patch day breaks more stuff than it fixes
          2026: Linux hits milestone after milestone in usage share & Microslop keeps replacing people with AI
          can't see how this will go wrong 🤷‍♂️

                      People are barely literate, AI is for corporations and has a dark influence. It's not for the betterment of the end user. Everyone should reject AI. They find money and resources for AI bs but no money for analog social issues...

                        such a shame that some (or alot, it depends) of the 5,700 employees laid off are xbox employees, weird it's as if xbox is on the brink of getting lost, and them having a high potential of getting sold off isn't helping.
                        also, the comment section is full of local nothing-for-brains that think only straight god-fearing men are capable of talent, and any one who doesn't fit that criteria is a DEI hire. please remember that Consulting doesn't necessarily have to be specific to DEI

                          Europe's fault for not earlier pointing out that open source is completely superior, nothing sensible comes out of apple or microsoft , apple still don't know what AI is and Microsoft struggle with securing notepad, the alternative is free controlled by you don't get stuck in the middle
