This comments section is about as brain melting as I expected.
Anyways Im glad more companies are trying to make privacy phones, shame the hardware sucks, as in no audio jack, oversized screen, hole in display (just put a bezel but really why should a privacy focused phone have a front camera to start with?), multi back camera with bump.
Just stop following the trends already, make a phone like its from before 2015 and I'll pay the ridiculous price but I guess thats the issue that there are literally 0 manufacturing lines like that in the world that are capable of making a phone without all this modern crap.
Also it still runs Android and Android is rotten to the core, especially now that they're gonna completely lock it down in what 3 more months? Graphene are the only ones to make modern Android bearable and it still sucks, anyone else I just don't trust, no one else has proven they can make the necessary modifications.
Android just needs to die finally for good, Linux/Sailfish, something new and independent needs to replace it.
Massive shame Graphene's new partner wasn't Sony, they make the only usable hardware, would've been the perfect combination, at least hopefully Moto will keep expanding Graphene support for as many models as possible including ones with jack, SD card, no notch, etc but again they just like everyone else haven't made a phone with good hardware since ~2015 or so so my hopes are non-existent and my wallet remains closed.
Smartphone industry is a cautionary tale, never let them take your custom Linux PCs, this is the future big corpos and govs want, everything glued together, always on government spyware sending all your files for analysis, can't change your OS, only allowed programs can be installed, chinese style doxxing mandatory asking daddy government to access anything, most boring dystopia ever we in.

550 nits isn't LCD level it below that my 4 year old LCD display phone had 740 nits bright display which was standard for the time

Present phone is on Android 15 and i don't get any more. If i really need then maybe i get some custom rom in the future. By performance i don't see a reason why my phone should not last more 5 years. Maybe after 2 years i need to change battery but i don't think that be even a problem after 2 years. I use other devices like desktop computer and laptop more then my phone so i still charge my phone like once in a week and the phone is Poco F5

a software can't be more secure than the hardware is installed on - in this case, zero.
i pity those who believe that anything is installed on these devices can be secure, or any communication using them, using any application.

pl2rts, 01 Jul 2026The AI in the phones know who the user is who is operating ... moreI have a 6 year old LG V60 5G with the Google assistant disabled, I used Aurora Store until recently only resorting to Google Play Store because Aurora Store told me last half a year that G.P.Store would be the only way to update apps in future. I use Yandex keyboard not Google's, and my device is so old I'm stuck with Android 13 which has become an impediment because some apps have stopped working cuz Google hasn't been able to inject code into my setup recently, which loss of functionality is the unavoidable reason for my current need to upgrade. Come at me, bro.

Even when you tape the cameras it wont matter cause you can't tape the radio waves that can totally make 3D environment and record all sounds too as it's all in waves. Home WiFi router basically can do all of that
Only way possible is that you build a room where no waves get trough and there is no AI in hardware while internet is trough cable too

You pay high price for security and privacy. You can't expect that from all these phones in the market with high performance and good cameras. You just need to accept that there is no security and privacy with these options

If it drops and is China/India only I will buy a One Plus 15 with the obsolescence discount. But I'd prefer UFS 5.0 and faster RAM, which the Ryzen 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro would offer.

Augur, 01 Jul 2026Isn't it weird that the only phone with hardware capab... moreThere are more phones coming, as Qualcomm phones with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 has Qualcomm Secure Processing Unit (SPU), which passes GrapheneOS requirements.
However, no other hardware vendor currently has a phone out that enable bootloader unlocking and relocking like Pixels.
This should change in 2027, when Motorola in their Moto lineup comes out with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip that will be supported by GrapheneOS.
NB! It will be expensive, due to increased cost of high end chips and RAM / flash from the AI bubble.
So if you want a privacy phone now, current pixels (from 8 onwards) are a decent choice and much cheaper.
