Apple is significantly changing its iPhone release strategy.

This also gives them more time to decide if they want to pull the plug on the iPhone Air series. At the moment, I think it likely has the smallest profit margins for Apple of the current lineup, not only due to the cost of manufacturing something so thin, but also because it comes with the A19 Pro and 12 GB of RAM like the Pro models, unlike the 8GB and standard A19 of the base iPhone. I'd certainly expect the internals to be downgraded if they do go ahead and produce a new Air.

                NGL I don't like this delay, like why not keep the iPhone 18 released along the 18 Pro, 18 Pro Max and the iPhone Fold.

The idea is to make as many people buy the more expensive product even if they don't need or want it, so not giving them choice is the strategy here.

                    If I were Apple, I'd develop the iPhone 18e alongside the iPhone 18 Pro/Pro Max. It'll give people the chance to either grab either the most expensive or the cheapest model away, or wait for the vanilla iPhone 18 as the best balance some time later.
