I bought and kinda dailied the VILLAON V40s version of this rebadge (it was a dirt cheap second hand and i was curious so why not) and I've used it for about 2 months.
The good parts of this phone are very minimal, it was shipped with Android 13 Go Edition and upgradable to Android 14 Go Edition so at least it supports all basic daily use apps (+ some AI function like Gemini), adequate battery life for 4000 mAh (about 6 hours, maybe 8 with battery saver), and supports 4G.
The rest is just horrible. It doesn't support 5 Ghz Wi-Fi bands, slow and inaccurate fingerprint sensor, very gimmicky "dynamic bar" feature that does 3 specific things (only shows face unlock detection, phone call and charging) and just slows down the whole phone, 10 watt charging (20-100% takes about 1 hour 45 minutes give or take), horrible multitasking even for a 4 GB RAM phone, really slow touch response, really bad screen quality (it's 720p but it doesn't look like it, faded looking colors, etc), horrendous camera quality (my 2016 Wiko Robby 2 takes better shots), really bad speaker quality AND mic quality. Of course, don't even think about doing anything close to gaming with this thing (It ran playing Real Racing 3 below 30 FPS)
I truly cannot comprehend why anyone would get this instead of saving a bit more for at least ANY OTHER entry level phones.

Anonymous, 10 Oct 2025I've seen Itel here on this website before, but never ... moreIt's rebranded from Villaon V40s, which is sold in Indonesia for 60 USD without contract (lowest monthly wage at 130 USD, and non-formal workers gets even lower). I guess the idea is they might as well serve those who otherwise can't afford to buy anything better. It might seem like the cost difference is not that significant, but for those who live paycheck to paycheck, the options are these absolute-lowest model with warranty versus second-hand or old stocks that might not necessarily last a year or two.

It's rebranded from Transsion's super obscure brand VILLAON, this one is the V40s from late 2024 or the beginning of this year, I forgot. The TS Pro is for for Telkom South Africa, carrier-exclusive itels have "Powered by itel" on the back instead of the usual itel logo
