I like stock android feel, early updates, display brightness, battery life and camera. I was looking for a smaller phone (its not very small but compared to todays phones that feel like tablets its fine). I like that there is almost no camera bump so its more protected from scratches and accidental drops. I wish tho that they have made the frame of the phone more rounded. It sometimes feels like im holding a brick. Its really uncomfortable in hands no? Because pixel 8a was definetely more comfortable to hold. The other minus would be charging speed, its quite slow but the battery does last long. Anyway, I think its a good midrange phone for this price.

Hello, 20 Apr 2026Nice phone to get all the advantages of G-OSIndeed. I'm searching for the perfect price/benefit and this looks like a good choice.

Anonymous, 14 Apr 2026I'm sorry, what? If you can't tell the difference... moreIts a phone, not a FPS game that you need 120 frames every second to feel alive. The OS + hardware is well optimized to offer locked 60FPS, without losing even a single frame. This already doubles the battery life, on a single charge, you can easily go for a day and a half. The 120Hz is smooth but there is just 90-100 difference. I guess you are coming from the chinese phone lineup and thus you can notice the difference between 60 and 120, but this is different in a pixel device. My realme 9 shows a lot of difference between 60 and 90hz, but not in the pixel.

                        Do these,
                        1. Turn off 120hz, it's already too smooth in 60Hz. You won't even feel the difference.
                        2. Turn off automatic updates on restart. This will save your life. Before you do an update, ask Gemini to loop through Google's issues tracker to check for any issues that are not solved yet. Like the recent one with the bootloop issues.
                        3. It cannot run LLMs or SLMs. The G4 is not a speedy chip, it's an optimised chip for Android. So cool your ass.

Rest everything is excellent. Native android experience. Camera is similar to iphone 16 pro. Functionalities are already too good.

Kratos-, 03 Feb 2026I'm considering getting pixel 9a, what's your exp... moreI'm currently using a 9a, I got mine as a birthday gift which is why I'm using it as a secondary phone. But there's a reason why it's my secondary and not my primary, it stinks 👎

I know you've probably heard this thousands of times, but it's true; pixel phones have awful performance compared to its competitors ❌ Apps lag out after a while. I've experienced some UI glitches too. I had to get this phone replaced once because my first one (the one I bought before my birthday) had a connectivity issue. Speaking about the connectivity, the modem on this phone is absolutely awful. It has a trash Exynos 5300 modem. Although the modem is an improvement compared to the ones used on the Pixel 7 series, my data speeds are still much lower on my Pixel 9a in comparison to my other phones, I used the same SIM for all of them to test the speeds out. The charging is also snail 🐌 slow, it took me 1h 37mins just to charge me phone from 5% to 90%. Lastly, there's this strange popping noise that ocurrs every once in a while, even if your volume is on mute. For me this popping sound happens when I'm on YouTube or when I'm opening a game. This popping sound is an issue for all Pixel phones in general, but some get this popping sound more than others.

But there are many things that I love about the Pixel 9a. I love the Iris color on mine, there is no camera bump, the bezels aren't that noticeable, if you buy the phone via a carrier there won't be any carrier bloat, you'll be the first to receive new updates, the camera is great (but the zoom is very limited; you can only use up to 8x zoom on photo mode, and 4k 60fps videos can only go up to 5x zoom). The UI is gorgeous, it's very customizable, and the haptics feel great

pixels will always have an advantage over other android phones, that being continuous android OS updates. compare that to your average chinese brands that gives at most 1-2 OS update for your phone, this Pixel will carry you all the way to Android 21-22 (or whatever Android version there will be in 2032).

there was a law made in Europe to try and solve this issue customers face from other manufacturers, but: https://www.androidauthority.com/motorola-eu-software-updates-loophole-3636627/
