Google Gemini app is now available on Mac
Google has released a standalone Gemini app for macOS, bringing a native desktop experience that can be accessed from anywhere on your system.
The app can be quickly summoned using the Option + Space shortcut, allowing users to interact with Gemini without switching between apps or windows.
It also supports on-screen context sharing, letting you share any window and receive relevant responses. For instance, you can share a Chrome tab and ask questions about its contents. The app additionally allows users to upload and interact with local files.
The Gemini app for macOS also supports quick image creation via Nano Banana and video generation using Veo. Users can open Gemini using the shortcut, tap the ‘+’ button, and choose ‘Create Image’ or ‘Create Video’ before entering a prompt.
The app is available on macOS versions 15 and up.
