Highlights & reflections from #INCOSEIW 2026 last week in LA — a key global #SystemsEngineering event Continuous Integration & Delivery (CI/CD) in Systems Engineering was a central theme for the Sensmetry team, including a 2-day workshop. The CI Workshop replaced the prior #MBSE Workshop to be more value-focused. Frank Salvatore & Mark Sampson led it well! I gave a talk on how Sensmetry’s #Syside #SysMLv2 tool suite enables CI/CD as well as joined the Tool Vendor Panel. Great discussion Thierry (Ansys), Andrius Armonas(Dassault), Ed Seidewitz (MDS & Siemens), Manas Bajaj (Intercax), Johannes (Planetary Utilities). #Syside enables automation & CI/CD to accelerate development by design. It started 4 years ago as an internal tool (working on sophisticated automated driving & satellite constellation projects) to support #automation via the CI/CD paradigm of #SoftwareEngineering #DevOps. We tried every tool available — none of the available #SysML tools fit. Today, #Syside helps thousands of users to automate away manual engineering through CI/CD -- to build superior systems faster. #Syside’s integration with main #AI agents within #Cursor and #VSCode makes creation of automation scripts a breeze. Explore CI/CD with SysML v2 in our free intro course (link in comments). Surprised: the vendor session still debated what CI/CD is and how to achieve it in #SE, not what #Syside users ask. As #Syside is as any CI/CD native Software Engineering tool (#interpreter, #clitool), it is obvious how to use it for CI/CD. Product-level CI/CD for complex cyberphysical systems isn't straightforward — but starting with software-defined systems (focus of many Syside users) and extending #SystemAsCode paradigm into other domains using Software Engineering concepts/workflows/infrastructure gives a clear path forward. Extending #SystemAsCode beyond software requires domain-specific libraries and much progress is underway: SysML v2 community leaders build and share language extensions on #Sysand (sysand.org) - the SysML v2 package manager. Takeaway: while others debate what CI/CD means or talk grand visions, the time to exploit CI/CD in Systems Engineering is now. Start where value is clear (software and what it interacts with/controls), then gradually extend SysML v2 and CI/CD adoption scope. SysML v2 and @Sensmetry's tools support this gradual path to apply CI/CD all the way to the full product level (whenever ready). Other highlights: - Main (Emerald) Event Sponsor — glad to support the community - Syside and 'DETECT in SysML v2' highlighted as 'New for 2026' in Daniel Hettema's keynote - Bustling @Sensmetry booth: 2 screens of demos, deep discussions; of course, beach balls and T-shirts - Day & night discussions on SysML v2, #AI, #PLE, #DigitalEngineering —thanks Mark Petrotta, Hans Peter, Robert Karban, Troy A. Peterson, Brendan Madden, Vince Molnár, Lonnie VanZandt, and many others! --- Learn about Syside & start using for free: syside.sensmetry.com

In the keynote of #INCOSEIW in LA by Daniel Hettema today, Sensmetry's #Syside and the #SysMLv2-based web app it powers for the #DETECT methodology made it to the talk. As 'New for 2026'! You can also try it out at detect.syside.app and also learn how you can quickly build similar #SysMLv2-based web apps with #Syside. Another set of #SystemsEngineering community news today is that INCOSE's propeller hat award got awarded to Robert Karban (congratulations!!), a career-long community leader and collaborator, these days building eye-opening #DigitalEngineering solutions at Planetary Utilities also utilising #Syside as the #SysMLv2 automation engine. A privilege to meet and have as collaborators propeller hat winners Hans Peter de Koning, Robert Karban - in developing #open #interoperable #SysMLv2 ecosystem for all! Not to mention, just not quite yet a propeller hat winner Vince Molnár, who rightly fits in this company. Happy to have gotten into a photo together! #MBSE #SystemAsCode

🚀 𝗗𝗘𝗧𝗘𝗖𝗧 𝗧𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝗠𝗟 𝘃𝟮 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘆-𝘁𝗼-𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗯 𝗮𝗽𝗽! Excited to share that 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗘𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 (𝗗𝗘𝗧𝗘𝗖𝗧) has been converted from #SysMLv1 to #SysMLv2 with the help of #Syside! Originally developed by the Office of the Under Secretary of War for Research and Engineering, Digital Engineering, Modeling & Simulation directorate (OUSW(R&E, DEM&S)), #DETECT is a framework to help organizations in the #DigitalEngineering tool selection process. However, the original version #SysMLv1-based implementation, came with weaknesses: • 🔒 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸-𝗶𝗻 with expensive licensing, • 🛑 𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 as SysML v1 and proprietary tool knowledge was required, • ⚙️ 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝗠𝗟, partly in proprietary tool scripts. Using #Syside, we’ve transformed DETECT into a fully open, model-based, and user-friendly solution. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: • 🌎 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗹𝗹: No expensive licenses or specialized SysML knowledge are required. Anyone can use the free web app at 👉 detect.syside.app. • ✨ 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝗠𝗟 𝘃𝟮 𝗟𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰: We moved the evaluation logic out of proprietary scripts and directly into the SysML v2 expression language. This makes the methodology transparent and tool-agnostic. • 🔄 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗺𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: The new SysML v2 model now serves as the methodology specification, while #SysideAutomator interprets it and serves as a 'backend' engine powering the web app. Any changes in the SysML v2 model get automatically reflected in the web app. 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆? Transitioning to #SysMLv2 is much more than just a syntax update — it’s about unlocking accessibility for broader model use, reducing tool costs, and enabling agility & speed. We hope this project inspires you to look at your own "locked" models and imagine the possibilities of building custom, accessible applications with #Syside. 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻: • 📖 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗴 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀: https://lnkd.in/eqyJwDJf • 📖 𝗦𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝗠𝗟 𝘃𝟮 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺 𝗯𝘆 𝗢𝗨𝗦𝗪 (𝗥&𝗘,𝗗𝗘𝗠&𝗦): https://lnkd.in/eWviWpPT 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧-𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 & 𝗰𝗼𝗱𝗲: • 𝗪𝗲𝗯 𝗔𝗽𝗽: https://detect.syside.app • 𝗚𝗶𝘁𝗛𝘂𝗯: https://lnkd.in/eGYHqkgq • 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗱: https://sysand.org 𝗔𝗰𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. Many thanks to the OUSW(R&E, DEM&S) team for providing valuable feedback through this DETECT conversion project. Their inputs allowed us to improve the DETECT SysML v2 library, the web app, and the associated blog post article. #MBSE #OpenSource #SystemsEngineering #SystemAsCode
