UKSEDS Scotland Regional Event 2026

Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland

UKSEDS & AstroWatt Society

Join us on the afternoon of 29th April at Heriot-Watt University’s Edinburgh campus for the UKSEDS Scotland Regional Event, open to students from across Scotland.

This year’s event will focus on the role of systems engineering in space, bringing together students, researchers, and industry professionals to explore how complex space missions are designed, built, and delivered.

We’re excited to host speakers from Thistle Rocketry and the UK Space Agency, including:

  • Cameron Miller (Propulsion Engineer) and Daniel O’Connor (FDP Engineer), Thistle Rocketry, delivering a joint session on HTP propulsion systems, covering their work on design, development, and testing within a real-world engineering environment.

  • Richard Balthazor (Senior Systems Engineer, UK Space Agency), presenting:

“Tailoring the Systems Engineering Process for an Experimental Payload in a Small Team.”

In addition to talks, the event will feature a poster showcase and networking session, giving attendees the opportunity to engage directly with speakers and peers.

We strongly encourage attendees and branches to bring posters showcasing recent projects, research, or initiatives. This is a great opportunity to share your work, receive feedback, and connect with others across the UK space community.

Whether you’re part of a UKSEDS branch or simply interested in space, engineering, or research — you’re very welcome to attend.
