The Android application is paired with a Myo Armband, meant to be worn while on the trails on the slopes, that can be activated with unique arm movements to send out a distress signal to fellow adventurers and rescue teams. Interconnecting our Android and Web apps, we strongly relied on the use of Amazon Web Services. While linking the two platforms, we ended up using AWS DynamoDB, S3, Cognito, SNS, EC2, and Route 53. In terms of the web app, we developed it using HTML5, CSS3, as well JavaScript for the more variable portions including the login page. In order to integrate the backend, we used Node.js and Python to particularly implement DynamoDB and S3. On the Android side of things, the whole entirety of the web app was implemented on the Android side, as well as extras such as the Myo Armband.

  • Salva - an AirTag-like device with an SOS button

A couple of years ago, after my grandma suffered a bad fall, I built Salva —an AirTag-like device with an SOS button – to help her signal for help in an emergency. Salva is a more discreet and 20x less expensive alternative to Life Alert – and my grandma wears her Salva 24/7, without having to charge it.

Fast forward 1 year after I built Salva, and Life 360 w/ Tile released a nearly identical product, so I decided not to commercialize my product. I leveraged Beacon technology, using…

Fast forward 1 year after I built Salva, and Life 360 w/ Tile released a nearly identical product, so I decided not to commercialize my product. I leveraged Beacon technology, using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to support a reliable, long-range, low-power device that pairs with an Android companion app – and doesn't need to be connected to a "base unit".
