    Most actions taken by private security are justified by express exclusions from civil and criminal liability for self-defense, defense of others, defense of property and citizen's arrest. Commented Jul 21, 2017 at 22:57

    Here in Canada, security guards who are employed are designated as peace officers under the Criminal Code, so they are provided many protections. That said, they don't get to break laws, or use excessive force in dealing with matters. Commented Jul 22, 2017 at 3:00
