M-PESA, now 19 years old, is not just a product; it has become a national infrastructure, woven into the daily lives of millions of Kenyans. In September 2025, we completed a full architectural overhaul of M-PESA; Fintech 2.0 scaling to 6,000 transactions per second on a cloud-native ecosystem that adapts, detects fraud, and self-heals. Daraja 3.0 now powers over 66,000 integrations across 105,000 developers, bringing stronger identity verification, fraud detection, and secure onboarding. Our aspiration is clear: to become the air that fuels the financial services ecosystem. As we open new rails; smarter, fairer, more inclusive rails we are not just moving money, we are moving people; from uncertainty to stability, from survival to opportunity, from poverty to prosperity. #SafaricomDecode

De{c0}de 4.0 saw techies, guided by our Microsoft partners, build Agentic AI Chatbots for Kenyan SMEs. The bots were created with local needs in mind, from Swahili support to MSME FAQs, and included responsible AI safeguards like bias checks. The session wrapped up with presentations, where teams showcased practical ways to deploy their chatbots on low-cost hosting. It was inspiring to see ideas turn into real solutions that can make a difference for Kenyan businesses! Bethany Jepchumba #SafaricomDecode #BuilderLabs

  • In partnership with Dell Technologies and Huawei , we hosted an AI ChalkTalks: Architecture as one of our afternoon discussions at #SafaricomDecode The session felt like stepping back into a classroom, but instead of lessons, attendees explored how modern AI is built, from the data and models to the systems that connect everything. It was a deep dive into the architecture powering the next generation of AI and a chance to see what goes on behind the scenes of the technology shaping our world. #SafaricomDecode
