3D flash memory is a semiconductor device indispensable for realizing various technologies that support modern society, such as IoT, AI, and big data. Since its establishment in 1992, the Yokkaichi Plant has developed as a state-of-the-art manufacturing site for memory products. There are six Fabs and an assembly facility on the expansive 694,000㎡ site. Fab7 started operation in October 2022. Production efficiency has been increased through the use of a production system that integrates the six Fabs, as well as AI and big data. Moreover, through close coordination with the onsite research and technology development departments, there is a smooth transition from new product development to mass production. The rapid growth of AI has accelerated demand for flash memory capacity. KIOXIA has successfully developed large-capacity 8 TB (terabyte) flash memory by assembling 32 pieces of 2 Tb (terabit) memory dies into a package less than 2 mm in height. This achievement was made possible with advanced assembly process technologies, including the technology for making wafers as thin as possible.
