Three days at Japan's largest exposition for automotive engineers, the Automotive Engineering Exposition in Yokohama, organized by JSAE. Automotive design sits inside one of the most demanding constraint sets in engineering: tight tolerances, multi-physics performance requirements, manufacturing realities that cannot be ignored. It is exactly the context where the manual draw-and-simulate loop has been pushed to its limits. The long conversations at our booth, and the packed audience at our presentation at the Mobility DX Innovation Stage, told us the same thing: the engineers closest to this problem already know what needs to change. The shift toward replacing the design loop is not a distant future. We are building to meet it. #automation #JSAE #Yokohama2026 #Braid #engineering

At Braid, we’re building automated engineering design technology that pushes the boundaries of what’s possible. Today, we are thrilled to spotlight three of our incredible team members who bring a wealth of global expertise and academic rigor to our mission. From pure mathematics to mechanical engineering and computer graphics, meet the most recent additions to our team: Eva | Researcher - Background: Computer Graphics & Geometry Processing - Journey: From the US to the Netherlands, now in Japan. - Work: Eva’s MSc dissertation focused on simplifying gradient meshes to help artists create photorealistic illustrations more efficiently. At Braid, she tackles hard problems in geometry processing. - Fun fact: She is a competitive Rubik's cube solver who has competed globally! Dohoon | Researcher - Background: Algebraic Geometry & Mathematics - Journey: Studied at Oxford and the University of Maryland before returning to his home in Tokyo. - Work: Transitioning from pure math to industry, Dohoon’s PhD involved building a master catalogue of geometric objects. He now applies his skills to optimization and machine learning at Braid. - Fun Fact: He’s a guitarist who has been playing for nearly 20 years. Toby | Researcher - Background: Mechanical Engineering & Metal Additive Manufacturing - Journey: Moved from the UK to Spain for his PhD, then joined Braid in late 2025. - Work: Toby’s PhD focuses on using data-driven methods to make metal 3D printing more reliable for production-scale manufacturing. He’s passionate about using code and algorithms to create physical objects. - Fun Fact: If he hadn't become an engineer, he’d likely be an architect—he spends his free time sketching Tokyo’s buildings. What unites them? A love for intellectually stimulating problems, a diverse international perspective, and a shared goal of making cutting-edge engineering tools more accessible. 👉 Check out their full profiles here Eva: https://lnkd.in/gmAXkuCQ Dohoon: https://lnkd.in/gbYibjp2 Toby: https://lnkd.in/gKapEaMK
