EUROAVIA Forlì-Bologna

This summer, from August 25th to 30th, EUROAVIA Forlì-Bologna had the pleasure of hosting the Airbus Sloshing Rocket Workshop and the Aerospace Territorial Forum. Welcoming such an international event was both an honor and a great joy: the five participating teams successfully achieved their objectives, and the forum gathered more than 200 attendees. None of this would have been possible without the constant support of our sponsoring companies, as well as the Municipality and the Region. We are also deeply grateful to the University of Bologna and to all the student associations that joined us for the afternoon fair following the forum. A special thank you goes to ITAER “Francesco Baracca”—and especially to Stefania, a school staff member who supported and assisted us tirelessly throughout the week. Without her, everything would certainly have been much more complicated. The technical institute demonstrated a strong role in local education, showcasing not only its own potential, but also the potential of the entire Emilia-Romagna aerospace ecosystem. We would also like to thank Piadineria Posada, who, with great patience, provided meals every day of the week for all the participants. Dal 25 al 30 agosto 2025, EUROAVIA Forlì-Bologna ospiterà lo Sloshing Rocket Workshop, una competizione internazionale organizzata da EUROAVIA con il supporto diretto di Airbus, uno dei principali attori dell’industria aerospaziale globale. Giunto alla sua sesta edizione, il workshop vedrà la partecipazione di studenti provenienti da tutta Europa, riuniti attorno a un tema chiave per la progettazione spaziale: lo sloshing, il moto dei fluidi all’interno dei serbatoi dei lanciatori. Venerdì 29 agosto, in parallelo alla competizione, si terrà una fiera pubblica presso l’ITAER di Forlì, dedicata agli sponsor dell’evento e aperta al pubblico, con la partecipazione di varie istituzioni ed autorità locali tra cui Vincenzo Colla, assessore e vicepresidente della Regione Emilia-Romagna. La fiera rappresenterà un'importante occasione di incontro tra il mondo accademico e quello industriale, svolgendo un ruolo di ponte tra studenti, aziende e stakeholder del territorio. Gli studenti avranno l’opportunità di incontrare le imprese, presentare i propri CV e discutere prospettive professionali nel settore aerospaziale. Le aziende potranno partecipare a round table dedicate, pensate per favorire il networking tra imprese e con i giovani talenti, in un contesto in cui il settore aerospaziale riveste un’importanza crescente per l’Emilia-Romagna. L’evento si propone un duplice obiettivo: da un lato, offrire agli studenti esperienze formative concrete e occasioni di contatto diretto con il mondo del lavoro; dall’altro, coinvolgere le imprese locali, stimolando l’interesse verso un settore in forte crescita, ricco di potenzialità in termini di innovazione e internazionalizzazione. La presenza di Airbus conferisce all’evento un chiaro respiro internazionale, rafforzando il ruolo di Forlì come polo di riferimento per la formazione accademica e l’industria aerospaziale italiana. We are deeply saddened by the passing of Chiara Pennuti, former President of our Association. Chiara was a driving force — full of energy, passion, and unwavering dedication. Her leadership and vision played a key role in shaping who we are today. She inspired everyone around her, both locally and internationally, with her enthusiasm, her strength, and her constant ability to bring people together. For our space enthusiast associates, in March we organized an exciting technical visit to the Medicina Radio Observatory, home to one of Europe’s most important radio telescope arrays. Operated by INAF - Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica, this site plays a vital role in deep space observation and radio astronomy. 📡🪐 Our members had the unique opportunity to explore the Northern Cross and the 32-meter parabolic dish—key instruments that have been scanning the skies for decades and contributing to groundbreaking research in cosmic phenomena, pulsars, and space weather. ✨☄️ The visit was guided by a passionate researcher, who walked us through the rich history and technical evolution of the observatory. From the basic principles of radio astronomy to modern observation systems, we saw how scientific excellence and engineering precision come together to expand our view of the universe. 🧠🔭 A major highlight was the chance to visit the antenna arrays up close, where signals from deep space are received, processed, and shared with international partners.
