Our CEO, Filippo Conforti, shares his point of view on Google’s Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP). Don't miss it!

Our updated Principles of Agentic Commerce whitepaper is now available. This version introduces Google's Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP), expands on agentic payments, and includes several refinements throughout. What stands out most about UCP is its composability. For each transaction, agents negotiate available capabilities with merchants. Each capability such as checkout, promotions, and order management can be mapped to different handlers, enabling true flexibility in how commerce infrastructure is orchestrated. Consider checkout: UCP allows merchants to connect and orchestrate multiple PSPs and payment methods on a per-transaction basis. This approach optimizes conversion rates and can dramatically reduce payment processing costs. Merchants locked into single payment providers will forfeit one of UCP's most significant advantages. Those who embrace the protocol's flexibility will be better positioned for the agentic commerce era. If you downloaded the previous version, you should have already received the updated PDF via email. For everyone else, grab your free copy at the link below: https://lnkd.in/dK24rJey

  • Authentication in Commerce Layer — simply explained Whenever someone new joins Commerce Layer, one of the first things we walk through is how authentication actually works. Whether you’re building a storefront, an integration, or an operational tool, everything starts with understanding who your application is and what it’s allowed to do. In our latest blog post, Marco Montalbano, one of our most experienced developers, breaks down how to get started with the new @commercelayer/js-auth v7 library. He explains how to set up a production-ready workflow that manages your authentication seamlessly — with proper token handling, caching, and security built in.  Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/dizi-_ny

  • Speed is a trust factor Customers are less patient than we often assume. If your site is slow, you’re not just losing a sale — you might be losing the customer for good. With this in mind, our engineers at Commerce Layer work every day to make our infrastructure not only reliable, but fast everywhere. Recently, we’ve released two major improvements that significantly reduce global latency and improve performance for every customer. The result? A faster, more consistent experience across regions — for all our API users and their shoppers. If you’re into performance optimization, all the details are explained in this blog article by our Infrastructure and Security Engineer Diego Mantellassi, (spoiler: it’s nerdy):    https://lnkd.in/ecUvwUS6

  • Everyone’s talking about AI — but with Commerce Layer, you can actually use it today. Building on our newly released MCP server (open-sourced here   https://lnkd.in/dhTu5cPV), our solutions engineer Fabrizio Picca developed a proof of concept inspired by real conversations with our clients. The goal? To show how AI can modernize ecommerce operations in practical, high-impact ways:   Early fraud detection — using agentic workflows to identify suspicious activity before it costs you.   Abandoned-cart management — monitoring pending carts and triggering intelligent, automated recovery actions. With our API-first architecture, these innovations aren’t just theoretical — they’re deployable today. • Making Order Expiration Seamless Some companies need expiration dates for their orders — maybe it’s a B2B offer with a deadline, ticket sales, products with low inventory, or temporary stores that only sell within specific time windows. We’ve improved our hosted checkout to handle all of that. Now, every Commerce Layer organization — on every plan — can set order validity limits out of the box, without any extra setup or custom code. This update makes it easier to manage time-sensitive sales while giving customers a smoother checkout experience.
