Bengaluru-based space tech startup Xovian Aerospace has raised $2.5 million in a pre-seed funding round led by Piper Serica and Turbostart, with backing from Inflection Point Ventures (IPV) and Eaglewings Ventures. The funding will power the launch of its first spacecraft, expand its engineering capacity, and kick off pilot projects with enterprise clients. “Early-stage investors are increasingly supporting deep tech and space tech,” said Ankur Mittal, Co-founder of IPV, reflecting the growing confidence in India’s space capabilities. Founded in 2019 by Ankit Bhateja and Raghav Sharma, Xovian is building a radio frequency (RF) satellite infrastructure designed to surpass the limitations of traditional optical imaging. “Images cannot track moving assets like ships or aircraft. Today, companies take four to four-and-a-half hours to reach a decision. We bring that down to under ten minutes,” said Bhateja in an exclusive interview with AIM. Unlike legacy satellites that rely on images, Xovian’s system captures the entire radio spectrum—enabling real-time intelligence across sectors like maritime, aviation, BFSI, defence, and climate resilience. “We’re building the nervous system for Earth: satellites that listen, AI that understands, and infrastructure that helps organisations act in real time,” Bhateja explained. The company plans to validate its payload on ISRO’s PSLV by end-2025 and begin pilot trials in Q2 2026.

#NewsUpdate Ahmedabad-based space tech startup Omspace Rocket & Exploration Private Limited has raised ₹25 crore in a pre-seed funding round from the family office of Dubai's Surya. The capital will fund the development of the company's reusable small satellite launch vehicle, Infinity-I, which is designed to carry a 350 kg payload to Low Earth Orbit. The funds will be used for engine tests, a sub-orbital launch, and strengthening infrastructure. Founded in 2020, OmSpace Rocket and Exploration Pvt. Ltd. aims to make launches faster and more affordable, targeting its first commercial launch for January 2028. The startup was founded in June 2020 by Dr Ravindra Raj BM, Maulik Mota, and Stutika Padamshali. In a pivotal funding move, NewSpace Research and Technologies, a Bengaluru-based company in #aerial autonomy and #defense drones, has secured ₹115 crore (USD 13.3 million) through a debt #financing round. The raise is structured via 115 compulsory convertible debentures (CCDs), each valued at ₹1 crore. Hyderabad-based spacetech startup Skyroot Aerospace has successfully conducted the first static test of its KALAM 1200 solid rocket motor, the first stage of the Vikram-1 launch vehicle. The test was carried out at 9:05 a.m. on Aug. 8, 2025, at the Static Test Complex of the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC), Sriharikota, under the ISRO and the Department of Space. Measuring 11 meters in length and 1.7 meters in diameter, the monolithic composite motor has a propellant mass of 30 tonnes and is the longest of its kind prepared at the Solid Propellant Plant in Sriharikota. Bengaluru-based spacetech startup OrbitAID Aerospace is building refuelling stations in orbit to give dying satellites a second life and reduce space debris. Their patented SIDRP tech allows tanker satellites to dock and refuel nearly-defunct satellites, extending their lifespan by at least three years.
