Those 7-point executors don’t come from polished résumés or fancy management jargon anymore. They come from hunger, not entitlement. In today’s generation, the real salesmen are: • Boys and girls from Tier-2 & Tier-3 towns • Street-smart, not slide-smart • Comfortable with hustle, rejection, and repetition • Less obsessed with titles, more focused on daily wins • Willing to learn on the job, not wait for perfect training • Needy enough to value opportunity, committed enough to protect it • Free from the fear of being judged or typecasted They don’t overthink. They execute. And because of that: • They listen better • They follow FCLC naturally • They build rapport faster • They respect process because it feeds them • They grow on achievements and commitments, not appraisal cycles Ironically, while many chase “high ambition,” sales still rewards high discipline. 👉 Sales isn’t about background. It’s about bandwidth for effort. And Tier-2 / Tier-3 India has plenty of that.

Not long ago, I was on a call with this prospect. Midway through the conversation, he said: "Just being honest, I’m talking to three other vendors right now." Though it was a surprising turn, I replied “That’s completely okay, I’m not here to win against anyone, but to understand what’s weighing you down and see how we can fix it together.” There was a pause. And then… something shifted He exhaled and his tone softened. And trust me, for the next 10 minutes, he opened up about a business challenge that had been bothering him for months, something no one else even asked about. We didn’t jump into features. We didn’t throw offers. We just listened. Genuinely! The best part? He came on board because he finally felt heard & assured So what do we learn from this? Courtesy: MSN.com/Money stories/Top stories THE NEW F-WORD: FORTY AND FIRED - Really Alarming amongst Tech Environment nowadays. Most painful once identity loss has been as brutal as the financial hit. This just cannot be expressed with just words more than that. If you are well networked in HR circles, you might have heard of "role rationalization". The word sounds clean, almost logical to most. It's akin to something you would do on an Excel sheet with zero emotion involved. But in real life, it is a family's budget collapsing overnight, a career identity being stripped away in a 15-minute call. It is a person who has put in 18 to 22 years of work being told that the organization now wants "fresh energy", "leaner teams", and "new skill sets". Just like that, you're out. Not at 58, not at 60, but asked to go at 41, 44, 49. Old enough to be considered expensive, and young enough to be told you are still "employable" if you "reinvent yourself". The cruel irony is that people in their 50s are often not at the same risk of losing their jobs, because, by then, companies usually let you "finish your stint". At that age, you're often seen as someone nearing the end of the runway. Yes, you are expensive, but also stable, predictable, and close enough to retirement to be tolerated. It's the 40s that have become the danger zone: young enough to be cut for "cost", old enough to be labelled "replaceable", and stuck in the most brutal gap of all, too early to retire, too late to start over without losing everything.

What they do care about is how your services transform their future. Think about this 👇 When you purchase a laptop, the smartest vendor doesn’t just list out the specs—RAM, processor, hard drive. Instead, they first ask: “Why are you buying this laptop? What do you want to achieve in the future with it?” Because the real value isn’t in what you’re buying now, but in what you’ll be able to do with it later—work faster, collaborate better, or build something bigger. But in sales, many service providers do the opposite—90% of the conversation is about the “specs” of their services, and only 10% about the real-life outcomes. 💡 The truth? 90% of your conversation should focus on how your services make life better for your customer. The service itself is just the vehicle. This mindset has not only helped me lead teams but also build long-lasting client relationships across industries. 🔑 Remember: Your service is the laptop. Let’s just say…very few raised their hands for “Totally confident.” That’s the reality we’ve seen over 20+ years of working with sales compensation programs - even the most perfectly designed incentive plan can collapse under the weight of bad data. We spoke about: - Silent derailers like missing records, bad hierarchies, and inconsistent inputs - Real client stories—from financial services to insurance brokers to beverage giants—who overcame chaos and restored trust - Practical frameworks to detect anomalies, set up early warning systems, and save analysts from burnout - How automation doesn’t just reduce errors—it gives your team their nights and weekends back The message we wanted to leave the room with was simple: Data first.
