A bit of a late post… but if you’re preparing for CBAP/CCBA, this might help 😄 From “I’ll start tomorrow” to “Finally certified” 😄, I received my CBAP from the IIBA on 24th Jan 2026 🎯 Took me a while to write this… but sharing it now hoping it helps someone stuck in their prep loop. This journey didn’t start in 2026… It started way back in 2022. Full motivation. Big plans. And then… I kept restarting from the first Knowledge Area of BABOK Guide like it was a Netflix series I never got past Episode 1. Life happened. Work happened. Motivation disappeared. Every time: Start → Momentum → Break → Restart → Repeat 🔁 Then came the “mugging up” phase. I memorized: ✔ Inputs ✔ Outputs ✔ Techniques ✔ Stakeholders ✔ Guidelines Basically tried to become a BABOK dictionary. Result? Forgot everything just as fast… because there are too many Knowledge Areas for memory alone to win. Another mistake? Reading BABOK like a novel. No visualization. No real-world mapping. Just reading and thinking: “Yeah yeah, I already do this at work…” Reality: CBAP: Do you though? 👀 Recognizing ≠ Understanding. The toughest part? Unlearning. After years as a Business Analyst, I assumed I already knew this. But CBAP has its own lens. My biggest blocker wasn’t learning new things… It was letting go of “this is how I’ve always done it.” What actually worked for me (CBAP Prep Strategy) 👇 ✔ Read BABOK Guide at least 3 times → Not just reading, but picturizing concepts so they stick longer ✔Learned how techniques are applied across different Knowledge Areas → This was a game changer — same technique, different context, different answer ✔ Took 5–6 mock exams → Train your brain for 3.5 hours of focus → Honestly harder than expected if you haven’t written exams in years ✔ Focused on approach, not just content → Guides didn’t work much for me → Understanding how to approach BABOK (via a good IIBA-endorsed provider) made the difference. I took the Techcanvass CBAP course. ✔ Set a timeline and commit → Don’t wait to “complete BABOK” and then apply… that never happens → Book the exam → then align your prep → Don’t keep pushing dates… shift push yourself ✔ Choose your exam mode smartly → I chose a test center for peace, stable internet & no power cut stress → If your home = noise (family, kids, pets 😄), go for a test center → Pick one close to avoid travel stress → If you have: ✔ Good internet ✔ Power backup ✔ Quiet setup Then home exam works perfectly fine Fast forward… Finally cracked CBAP 🎉 Not because I studied harder, but because I studied smarter. ✔ Stopped restarting. Started continuing ✔ Focused on understanding, not memorizing ✔ Connected concepts to real scenarios ✔ Unlearned before relearning If you’re preparing for CBAP or CCBA: You’re not behind. You’re just in your “restart loop” phase 😄 Break the loop. That’s where the magic happens. #CBAP #CCBA #IIBA #BusinessAnalysis #BABOK #CareerGrowth #ProductManagement #Agile #LearningJourney #Certification #Upskilling #ECBA
