The best product features are the ones that feel obvious… after you see them I was once discussing a UX problem with my colleague Ankur Sardana, an astute designer himself. He said something that stuck with me. When a user sees a feature, the reaction should be, why wasn’t this always there? A perfect example of this is on Paytm. On the payment screen, there is a small “+” at the bottom. It turns the screen into a calculator. So if you are splitting a bill or figuring out an amount, you do not have to switch apps or do mental math. You just do it there and complete the payment. The feature itself is simple. But the reaction it creates is powerful. It makes you pause and think, why wasn’t this always there? That is usually the mark of great product thinking. Not something complex or flashy, but something so aligned with user behaviour that it feels obvious in hindsight. Have you come across features like this that made you think the same?

I just paid with my Face ID. No PIN and no need type anymore Just looked at my phone and payment done. Paytm just launched Face and Fingerprint payments. Think about how far we’ve come: 2016 → Cash only 2018 → QR codes at every shop 2021 → Pinless UPI for small amounts 2026 → Your face and fingerprints are your password India didn’t copy this from anyone. We built it. We scaled it. We own it. Just show up & Pay :) Try with Paytm app. #UPI Paytm #DigitalPayments #FaceID #Fintech #IndiaFintech #PaymentInnovation #ProductManagement Akash Chandra National Payments Corporation Of India (NPCI) Yugal Tiwari

Really liked Paytm new update showing payment locations 👏 It quietly solves a real problem - we often remember where we paid, not whom we paid. This makes tracking transactions much more intuitive, especially across different areas and trips. A few ideas that could take this from useful → powerful: • Search payments by location (area, city, landmarks) • Smart insights like “frequent places” or spend patterns • Monthly spend heatmap to visualize where money goes • Trip-based grouping of transactions (travel timelines) • Tags like “with friends”, “client”, “personal” • Add notes or bill photos for context • Alerts for unusual location mismatches • Area-wise budgeting (e.g., spend near office) This feature has the potential to turn payments into a memory map of spending, not just a transaction list. Curious to see how this evolves
